What did you do to your bike today?

I pulled my carbs off the green monster and set up to check the float height with tygon. Here's a pic

While I had them off, I went ahead and put these on scarlet and hooked up my green tank and she ran!

Put the carbs back. On and sync them

I am seriously considering getting those grips Don.

I just rode 260 miles to the beach and back.... I'm hear to tell you them ISO Grips are the only way to go!!!! On my trip up the gorge a few weeks ago I was complaining about shoulder pain about 3/4 of the way thru the trip. I have NO upper body fatigue right now... but A$$ on the other hand is in need of a new saddle... and SWMBO is not happy either. Guess its time to buck up and buy a new seat before our big trip end of next month.

here's the problem with your theory Greg... I have no butt! When they molded me they installed a lower half for a 150 lb man... God's cruel joke I guess.

I put the sheep skin on for this trip and it did help a little. Main think it helped with was keeping the Wife from sliding into me. I've thought about picking up one of those ATV cushion covers to put on it. They measure the same length as my seat. Walmart carries them for $19.99... nice thing is being from walmart If I put it on and it sucks I can return it, cuz they'll take anything back!

I've got one of those ATV coushions myself. It helps a little.

I'm only about 170-180 myself so I suffer from lack of ass (in more ways than one) myself. The more I ride the more I'm able to "tune out" the discomfort. I find that shifting my weight helps a lot and standing on the pegs once in a while too. Although SWMBO may object to your butt in her face.

When I can get my feet on the Hwy pegs I can ride A LONG ways before needing to get off. But running around on the lower pegs can be a killer on the old back side after a while...

Installed a bad boy horn. Did it per their instructions using the included relay, and use one of the blank sections on the TC fuse box to add the fuse for it. Got it all wired in and wow! That thing is sure LOUD! It won't sound like a wimpy bike horn anymore, that's for sure.

Didn't do anything with the bike(s). They just sit under their covers. Have the tags for the LG sitting on the dresser, been there for months.
Have been driving to NE from CA and back weekly. If not NE then it's KS.
Tomorrows my one day off. Maybe I'll charge a battery and see if a bike still starts.

This may not be suitable to some bikes nor riders, BUT, [no pun intended] floor boards instead of pegs helps out on the rider fatigue for me.
You just wouldn't believe how moving your feet a few inches in any direction helps you out on discomfort of LONG rides.
Although my street ride is no sport bike, I have floor boards for driver, passenger and the highway "pegs".
With driver's floor boards, heel-to-toe shifter is generally the next requirement.
Replacing the standard, driver's pegs with floorboards was the biggest improvement for long distance riding for me.
On the other side, passenger pegs do allow the passenger to lock the heel of their riding boots on the "back side" of the pegs which helps the passenger in braking and other situations.

I've got boards on my V-Star and they help alot just for that reason... BUT finding a board and control set up for a 79 xs1100 special could prove to be a PITA! I've found a few sets used on the net for a standard. but never for a special.

I'm gonna run to Walmart this week sometime and pick up one of them pads. And see if it helps. If not I may be off to the land of seat shopping. Looks like Diamond and Saddlemen are the only 2 players left in the XS game.

Not so. SARGENT will make you anything you want. I have one on my XS11. I'm sure they're not the only ones in the game.

Weather has been nice, should fire up the Sporty and go riding, but instead I've been cabinet-blasting parts for the XJ to get them ready for powdercoating (the dry weather helps keep the blast gun from clogging).

Back in the day, Travelcade made an aftermarket seat for my '80-G, I bought mine thru J.C. Whitney.
It was a double bucket. I liked it very well.
'Don't know about Whitney and aftermarket seats for the XS these days though. I suppose one could check their web site and find out.
On the Travelcade seat, you took your old seat off the pan and attached the new seat onto it.
