I replaced my coils and plug wires, fuel lines, cdi box, & tac. The bike was not running on all four every time it got wet. The tac was jumping all over the place and the fuel lines would bust every time you moved the tank. It started shutting off then at odd times and running a little crazy. I had a cdi from the midnight setting there so I plugged it in.....It's been running great ever since. I guess sitting in a field for 3 or 4 years took it's toll on my electronics among other things, like the tires, paint, seat and wires.....good thing the motor and steel brake lines work so well or my $100 would have been for not. I've got a crazy week of double shifts at work, then next weekend I'm going to work on painting the motor on the midnight.

Performed the RLU bypass on my bike, replaced the left and right hand controls with the controls I got from Toolmaker Tim and finished rehabbing. Everything works properly, and the controls work well, and don't look too bad.
Tried out the nLED headlight I got of eBay, and found it sucks. So put my silverstar back in. Time to look at other options, I want lower power draw, but not at the expense of being able to see..Cy

turn signal switch
So, while looking at my busted clutch cable, I figured it's time to tweak on my turn signal switch.
It had been 'sticky' for a while now.
so I took it apart and wouldn't know it, I broke 2 leads off the flasher switch.
Tried for 2 hours to solder the suckers back on, no joy. I just couldn't get it hot enough to melt the solder.
I got so fed up, I just snipped the crapped up/melted ends off and stuffed it all back in there. (What do I need hazard lights for anyway)
Maybe one day I'll get a heavy duty soldering GUN and then I can get those wires back on there.
Then again maybe I'll get a whole new switch assembly.
(The 'auto cancel' circuit has never worked anyway, I think it's the wrong switch for the bike)Hi, my name is George & I'm a twisty addict!

Hey Glowe, just an FYI, turn signals arent required in VA... I yanked all mine off.
Anyway, what I'm working on now is scraping all that rust off of my headers. Going to paint them up with some hi-temp paint and then wrap them up. Going to try an old school trick by putting a copper reducer as far up as I can get it in the header. Then take a big 'ol thumb screw and put it about an inch from the end of the pipe which will create a little back pressure for me. The good thing is that it is adjustable as well ... We'll see how it goes.~Jay

Turn signals
They might not be required, but then you gotta use those hand signals and I doubt that any of the drivers around here know what those mean.
I REALLY want to make sure that those other "distracted" driver know that I'm changing lanes. i ride my bike everyday to and from work on the interstate. I can't tell you the number of times I've seen texting while driving. It makes me so sick. I even saw a guy reeading the newspaper one day.Hi, my name is George & I'm a twisty addict!

In addition to the fact that most drivers have no idea what those hand signals mean, especially from other states that require signals on ALL vehicles no matter what (and as I was skeptical I looked it up, you are correct, MC's are exempt from the turn signal requirements in VA) and making said hand signals require you to take your hands off the controls at the time they most need to be there. I've got no problem with finding a way to make them blend into the bike when not in use, but anything that makes the bike blend into the background more (and noise does nothing to make the bike get noticed until your past the point where it matters anymore) makes riding more dangerous. Plus, they can't see the hand signals at night no matter what, but turn signals are even more visible at night.
Another thing to consider, if you cross state lines, you better be sure your bike meets the requirements of the state you just rode into, cause if a cop is in a bad mood they WILL ticket you for vehicle deficiencies and it WILL stick. This is why staying stock can be a good practice, is can prevent tickets, although being non-stock can be done, as long as you make sure you stay within DOT rules, that being the most stringent guideline used for state law. In some states, depending on what they bust you for, they can even impound the bike, and make you bring it up to standards before you can get it out of impound.Cy
