went riding tonight.....backbrake got jammed on recently adjusted muffler bracket - realized I was now riding with no back brakes

rest went ok with downshifting and front brake till i got home, but now a new project!

oh and got kudos from a hardly rider that used to own a 78 XS11 - bought it for a bag of weed...couldn't beat that deal!

    • Good to see you found out now rather than later JW! Front being your main braking, and SHOULD be the first applied, with added rear for the extra slow down, should not have been an issue getting it home safely.

      • BTW, walked past bike(s) in the man-cave and gave the ST a one finger salute after having to pick it up. Left me with back muscles pulled bad enough, hard to get up out of a chair. Hopefully be good enough by this weekend to pull carbs on the Venturer and put the 107.5mains in the outside two carbs, install and sync, etc. Should put it dead-on for burn having found the Special needles in them and center cyls. a perfect burn with the 110's

          • Well, gave the old warhorse a paint job! Kept thinking of that old saying puttin lipstick on a pig but SWMBO said make it pretty! Than I swapped out the final drive. WOW what a difference! Heading for Vermont next week so I figure I'll change the oil and see if I can put on the bigger standard gas tank. I'm not sure of the gas stations in Canada. Sometimes they can be a long ways between.

                • Wildkat - They always seem to run better when their all nice and clean. lol.

I installed my new decals. Had a local graphic shop make them up. I love the way they came out. Cost $50.00 for 8. 4 side cover decals, 4 tank decals. The local shop had to reproduce the side cover ones from scratch. If they did not it would of been a lot cheaper. Now that they have it the cost will be a lot less if I ever want to have them made up again or if any other members want one.

                      • Those are nice lookin, but I have a standard not a special. Not so sure I want to spend almost $50 each for the reproduction decal ones, but it's looking like their the only game in town these days.

yeah if there was something like that for the standard I would probably get some for my side covers.

It was $50 for 8 decals, 4 side cover and 4 tank.

That's only $6.25 piece if anyone was wondering, which doesn't seem to bad to me since it also included the screen printing in order to make them...

Would they be able to set up to do 80 style standard side cover decals? Being that I'm on the other side of the country I can't just run down there, and can they do them in gold rather than silver? I've got no problem shaving the tank decal mounting area, it's just a time consuming job. I'm definitively interested if standard style side cover decals can be done, I'm not at all dead set on OEM badges with the snagging on everything that goes with them and all.
