      Hi Rasputin,
this year it's the Halloween weekend. CVMG (SK) plan to have a sales table there this year to unload all our junk to make room for our new treasures. See you there.

      • Fired the bike up for the first time this morning. Jumped it using car battery that I have sitting around. Bought a new battery at O'Reilly's and I'm having them charge it while I'm at work. Now just need to get a front tire.

        • Worked on two bikes today: started stripping the wrecked XJ and got to do some badly-needed work on my 80G.

On the 80G I put on two new tires (they finally got here! Yay!), three new sets of brake pads all around and swapped out the old worn brake rotors for the new slotted rotors from the XJ.

Man, the XJ is a mess ....

          • Working on getting the head back together. Then hopefully today I can get the jugs on and then put the head back on. Hopefully I have enough shims that are the right size to get the intake clearances set right!

              • Camera ViBrAtIoN......fixed.

Solved (apparently...) a camera mount problem which allowed the engine vibration to affect the video: Made it all wavy as soon as the engine started. Very annoying and distracting too.

At the end of the above video I rev the engine a few times but the video stays fairly solid. Major improvement when compared to the "before" videos.

Solution: 3/16 aluminum adapter plate to put the camera centered over the mount "ball and socket" instead of original offset where the ball and socket was near the end of the camera. (Wiggle Waggle from the front of the camera to the back...)

Worked so well that I made a double mount adapter plate for the twin 3D cameras. Really wish I would've had this problem fixed before I posted to youtube...

                    • Started preparing for the rally season starting next month. Charged the battery, changed the fluids, cursed the day that tyres that wear out were made, and started it up. Fired up first time, stalled, fired up again, stalled, fired up third time and then proceeded to cough and splutter (bike, not me), and back fire cannon balls of black smoke and soot out the exhaust. Got it to idle in a fashion and let it warm up. Give it a squirt on the throttle and it let out an almighty great bang that rattled the neighbours windows. The cat done a runner and the neighbour came screaming out her door thinking someone had been shot. Didnt run any better after that so I guess I've got some work to do, and a muffler to repack.

                            • I took the 750 final drive off and replace it with my original 1100 final drive. It really doesn't go well on a Special. I think the 750 final drive was too tight and didn't spin as free as my 1100 final drive.

                              • Deserved a speeding ticket yesterday when SWMBO and I went out with some friends for a ride "up north".

Today, took the once-again broken luggage rack off of Purple Reign. Also worked on the front brakelight switch mount on Tsunami so SWMBO doesn't have to complain about my brakelight being stuck on any more. Thanks for the tip about using a heat gun to soften up the locking tabs on the switch body so they can be reset a bit wider for a tigher fit.
