    • Disconnected all the electrical and fuel from my engine. Loosened all the mounting bolts for the engine, and removed what I could by myself. Hopefully, can get a neighbor to help me muscle the engine out tomorrow.

Checked valve clearance on my spare engine...pretty tight. Now, have to find a way to get the old pads out without damaging anything, so I can figure out which pads I need for replacement.

      • Going through and repairing all the busted up plastic on my fairing.

If you ever need to fix plastic I suggest getting yourself a hot air plastic welded! Things work slick as snot!

              • After taking the long way to here and a couple IB 1000 miler's in less than 24hrs., going up into Canada, Scott(3Phase) and Columbo found there way to my house. Since Columbo seems to be "needy"("just one more thing"), I knew where an auto cam chain adjuster "lived". He installed that so I would'nt have to retrive him and scoot somewhere between here and Caly. I also gave him some lowers which we mounted after getting the proper well-nuts and allen screws for the mounting. He then solved my Venturer's minor stumble and ever so slight occassional erratic behavior finding the white wire on the pick-up coil to be hiding inside the insulation broken. It had been that way for some time, even out at the CalyRally. Thanks Scott! That should also help bump up the LD mileage from it's previous average of 37mpg aside from the definite improvement in low-mid smoothness and performance. Now it seems to perform like the day I rode it off the showrrom floor new! Him and I also rode some REAL mountain twisties at 10,000+ft going to Durango and back. He got a taste or tease of what the riding would be like for the Rally in the Rockies that Jerry and I are tentatively looking to lead and tail possibly next July, looking at the 4th holiday weekend. Would be doing this out of Durango, Colo. More to come pertaining to this, so those who may be interested east, west, north, and south might be able to attend and enjoy some REAL mountain riding on some newly overlayed high altitude scenic roadways! Again, a huge thanks for Scott and Columbo coming(the long way) to fix that lonely unattached white wire on the Bentley and the super time spent riding and visiting! Twas a hoot!.

                • Installed a HID headlight in the fairing. Vast improvement over stock. Also cleaned and greased all the connections in the bike. Good turn sigs now, and it brightened up the halogen just before I removed it.

                    • I fitted the refurbished metal side strips to the seat. now the bike looks better with the maroon /white tank and the white side covers, white strip down the seat and white tail body. I would post a pic, but yet to learn how to get pics off my phone. Todays plan is to find the fault in the hand brake wire that is causing the brake light not to work then to pull down the rear brake circuit to fit new seals.

The Venture tensioner worked great and I have to thank Motoman for the 'new' set of lowers for the fairing, they're pretty slick!

                          • Exhaust rattle

Had a mild exhaust leak which 3Phase and I found to be #3 header pipe at the muffler pipe insert. Rotated clamp a bit and re-tightened. Still had an occassional pipe related rattle on occassion depending on load and RPM. Today, removed #3 header pipe and found inner wall to be loose at both ends causing the rattle. Had replaced my left side with NOS assembly complete with #2 header pipe, heat shield and clamps bout a year ago. So used the #2 header pipe that was removed which was in excellent condition, chrome, etc. Always thought #2 and #3 had a ever so slight difference. Guess not as I loosened muffler hanger, #4 header pipe and installed the #3 pipe. Perfect fit and no more rattle, plus sound out both exhaust is now smooth even low toned just like when bike was new. Guess it got parked too close to Columbo and picked up some of its "needyness" as Scott puts it.......oh......"just one more thing". Gonna wire wheel with dremmel to remove carbon on both ends of other pipe and TIG weld it inside. Having the large nozzle I think I can still get enough of an angle to have success tacking it in several places.

LMAO! You have to love these old bikes or they sulk.

After thousands of trouble-free miles the new throttle cable decides to stick after hiding the carbs and the linkage behind a set of lowers?
