  • Hi Revilo,

If you post the first three digits of the frame number (2H7?, 3J6?), we can tell you the original model. frame and motor numbers would originally have been identical.

Hahaha Alan! What now? You never saw one of these before didn't you?
I read somewhere these were only delivered in diamond silver and black red. Framenumbers started with 003101.. for the '81

            • Hi Math,

Not sure why that is funny? I just gave a couple of prefixes to show Revilo the format he was looking for...... I didn't think it would be either of those...... they are for my bikes!

              • Hi Revillo,

I looked at the XS Part Number Finder site,CLICK HERE!! And according to them, your 3X1 started out as either a '80 "G" in Diamond/Frost silver, or an '81"H" in Red/Black. Yamaha call your part of he world "oceania", and all 3X1s went there.

It looks like someone has added the seat and grabrail from an SG sometime in the past, but the tank and headlight are stock......... Don't know about the rest, but the link above should help you out,

                • Sorry Alan, did not mean to offend you
I was laughing as these prefixes are very rare and I have never seen one before. So describing them and looking for differences is not easy.

Did not expect one of these to pop up at all.

I'm putting my money on it being an 80G frame since Yamaha made the Standard and Special frames look the same in 81 (for most of the world anyway).

I have never heard of the 3X1 designation and likely wont ever see one of those here (US). You bet that I will be lookin from now on tho.

Congatulations on finding such a good lookin bike Revilo, I hope you have as much fun with it, as the rest of us are having with ours. But be warned, these bikes are pretty fast!
