Got other newer equipment available if needed that is more rainproof.

Will get into eastern Colorado on Thurs 14th then be-bop into Echo Canyon area for lunch then cabin check-in @2pm Friday.

After visiting and lunch with you last fall here, good to hear your headed back this direction again. And yes, you DO know your way around this part of the country really well! Ride safe on the beautiful 1800 Wing.

        • Nice web page, Jerry!

I would add that we have the campsite for Sunday night as well, with the idea being Sunday is a full day for riding, then head out Monday after a nice last night by the campfire, so to speak. Would you make that change when you are able?

Certainly guys can head out when they want, just want to make sure everyone knows we are scheduled with the campground through Monday morning, especially with the guys almost literally coming from each coast.

          tcoop, thanks for the deposit!

          • Bonz:
The web page has been updated. I've also added a brief note on the price; JeffH pointed out the total cost for weekend camping is $26.00 so in addition to the $15.00 to be paid to you through PayPal to cover the deposit, another $11.00 per camper will be due at check-in. Let me know if this is not correct!

            • If we have 10 campers at the camp site, that will be correct. If we get more, it's $5 per extra person per night. So I didn't
make the final amount due hard and fast, it could end up being a little bit less, or possibly a few bucks more if we don't get 10 at the campsite. There are enough guys that aren't able to firmly commit at this point, that came across as the best way to do it.

              • Jerry, looking at that great website over and over makes me really happy you are back this year! Are you riding the C10 still? Debating if I should ride the 80SG or the ZRX1200.

Here are a couple links to Bishops Castle, one of the more likely rides based on the number of new guys and returning guys that really liked it. The ride would take us on Skyline Drive to start the day (new this year) past the Federal "Supermax" prison, and onto Bishops Castle via some incredible roads. After visiting the castle, stop in Westcliffe for lunch and then north via Hwy 96 with the spectacular Sangre De Cristo mountains directly to our west to join back up with Hwy 50 and a beautiful ride along the Arkansas river back to home base. This is the reverse direction from 2014, which adds in Skylne drive and a different riding experience by doing the same great roads in the opposite direction.

                Bishops Castle website link: http://www.bishopcastle.org/

My thought for the other ride would be Pikes Peak. Head up Hwy 9 and a ride through the old west town of Guffey (new this year). Then on to Hwy 24 for the ride to the Pikes Peak Highway, with a stop on the way back in Cripple Creek (new this year) where guys can stretch their legs, throw a few coins into the slot machines, etc. With lunch somewhere in there based on timing.

                    • What genetic modifications have been done to enhance El Toro since the 2014 rally?

Weather is getting a bit nicer, let's get in touch in a couple weeks for a ride, Joe. I am having a knee scoped tomorrow, torn meniscus and will be out of riding commission for a bit.

Been stocking up on a few parts for mods to the ZRX, gonna swap stick coils in for the stock coils/plug wires and put in a ZX11 ECU to change the timing advance curve for the better and up the redline from 10,500 to 11,500. Also, upgrading to ZX11 double valve springs to handle the higher rpm comfortably.

                      • Colorado Rally web page has a few updates as of this morning.

                        http://www.appleattic.net/Co_2016

I have secured a group discount for the Pike's Peak Highway from $12.00 to $8.00 per bike. I will bring some of the coupons with me or you can print one out and bring it along if you prefer.

PS: lots of casinos in Cripple Creek for those who wish to try their luck! Also, many years ago there was a small café in Guffey where we ate lunch during the rally that year. Don't know if it is still there but the food was good and it may be a potential stop.

                        • Hey, Howard...
Sorry to hear about your knee injury!
Didn't know if you've heard about the latest thing for bad knees, but I have a mechanic friend here in Skiatook that's about 70. (Owns his own shop, and is a widower, so he keeps working to occupy his time.)

His knees were shot, and he was in a lot of pain. Thought he would have to close his shop, and Dr's told him he'd have to have both knees replaced.

He'd read about new medical breakthroughs concerning stem cells.
They remove stem cells from another portion of your body, do something to them in a lab, re-inject them in your knee, and in a few days, miraculous!
FDA has not approved it yet, so insurance doesn't cover it yet.

Cost him $5k cash, but his recovery is amazing!
Gets up and down now and walks around like a 20 yr. old.

Ya might read up on it before you have surgery. JAT...

                          • Nice info XJOK! The stuff medicine is heading towards is pretty amazing. Stem cells are a huge wave of the future in my opinion. My doctor said he had to trim away meniscus in two places where it had torn, cleaned up the rough areas of cartilage under the knee cap and should be good to go. Being that my situation was an injury that was causing the problem, I don't think the stem cell type treatment would heal or help the torn tissue that was irritating the knee capsule causing huge swelling. Whereas your buddy probably had wear and tear that the stem cells were able to help "mend".

Jerry, for the Pikes Peak highway, I talked with them on the same deal, instead of the guys using individual coupons, they would let us pay in one swoop and wave us all through together. Did that last time and worked well instead of paying one at a time. I put it on my charge card and guys settled up individually with me. Saves them time on busy days is what they told me. Thanks for the work and thinking of it.

You going to ride the C10? If you are, you and XJOK2PLAY will each have a Concours, his being a C14. I may ride an "orphan" this year and bring the ZRX1200. Love the SG, however the riding position for my tall body and long legs is more comfy on the ZRX.

                            • I'll be on the '06 Concours. The XJ is waiting for me to give it some TLC as it sits in the corner of my garage.

Riding Pike's Peak as a group would be best, but from past experience there are times when people can't all get together to make the ride as a group. Having the coupon is a backup plan just-in-case something comes up.

                              • That must have been a bummer! What was the scenario that the group (of all the guys doing the ride for that day) wasn't together for the ride up the peak?
