Hey everyone, I had a great time last year but won't make it this year. My bike rolled over 50k a few weeks ago and is still going strong. Maybe next year. Everyone be safe and have a great time.
Friday is our 15th anniversary and we're driving the Mini up through Blue Ridge Parkway. Keep thinking about stopping by on the way home, will see how the time goes.
I'm at work, waiting for a customer audit to end, so I can begin the drive.
My bike is on the trailer and hitched up in the parking lot. The Jeep is loaded and ready to go.
It's going to be unseasonably hot here in Detroit for the upcoming week, so I packed a mix of attire to be ready for whatever the weather brings in NC- including the cooler temps in the mountains.
I will spend tonight at my sister and BIL house in Dayton, OH.
I should arrive at Iron Horse Thursday afternoon, perhaps around 3-4.
I'm really itching to go.
This weekend's weather is very promising in Stecoah. Friday is going to possibility be a little wet, but Sat through Mon looks really good. Temperatures are mid 50s lows to mid 80s highs. See you there.
Mike

I left home Sunday. Followed MaximPhil's route down through WV. Rode Rt 16 The back of the Dragon, Rt 421 The Snake, Rt 441 through the Great Smokey Mountains Nat'l Park, and spent a few hours on the BRPW. Logged 1,500 miles so far. Eating ice cream in SC right now trying to beat the 94 degree heat! Will arrive at the Iron Horse Friday. Safe travels everyone!
Hi Billy,
Good to hear that you are coming this year. Are you bringing the Venturer?

Thank you, folks, I made it to the Iron Horse. Again, my GPS took the long way -- 70 miles of back roads including The Dragon but it was daytime so I could see!
Dinner's almost ready, then I'm going to crash out, that was a lot if riding from Memphis, then twisties.
Hi Scott,
Hell of a trip you just made to the IH from LA........ AGAIN! I cannot imagine riding for any where close to that distance. Congratulations on a safe and very long journey!

I'm all packed and ready to go. Will be staying at Blue Lick state park in Kentucky tonight. I just read that the Rapture is starting on Saturday. Is that going to interfere with the awards show?
See ya'll soon!

I woke up this morning at 4 AM out of habit and remembered I don't have to go anywhere so I went back to sleep. I didn't wake up until about 5 minutes to 9 and almost missed breakfast. It looks the weather's going to hold and not dump rain all over me again so it's time to do some maintenance after the trip. The top end is noisy again and if it's possible, I need to find out if I can drain the excess oil without making a mess or upsetting the Iron Horse.
Tires... I need new tires, they're squared off and 'sing' in cornering after 7K of riding and a little unwieldy on curves but there's still good tread in the center, they've lasted longer than usual. Maybe the trick to getting better wear is to buy tires, then let them age in a corner somewhere for more than five years so they'll harden up as the volatiles evaporate out of the rubber.

Good folks near you.
Maybe monkey with the PSI first to see if you can find a sweet spot. Then run them more before replacing with new ones. Just make sure the grip is suitable and grip exceeds what you are asking them to do.

I finished tuning, #4 intake was too tight and the cam lobe looks bad, that was my noise. I synch'd and set the mixture screws and while I was doing that a bunch of XSives got here. The bikes are all out front but they're nowhere to be found. Hmm....
