I've been thinking about this for a while, Denny, and so far the only definitive meeting spot I come up with is your place at the end of "week 1" as the ride has made its way around the loop. We'll be picking up riders along the way, and will have everybody in the group as we roll back into Olympia. The most recent additions, from Oregon and Califiornia, will continue the loop as you and the rest of the PNW group end your loop. SWMBO and I will continue on to Castlegar or so, back to where we initially join the loop on probably day 2.

What's the overall mileage look like at this point?

Hi XSives, old and new. This sounds like such a great rally. I'd sure be up for it but can't attend. I had the opportunity to explore a new job thanks to my old employer eliminating my old one late last year. Anyway, this job has a 6 mo "probation period" so I won't have any vacation until Sept.

I sure look forward to pictures from the event and very best and safe riding to all who attend!

How are riders with averaging 400 miles a day for 2 days?

That is a comfortable distance for me. Having the third day to rest the butt should make for a pretty comfortable run. There will be some days shorter and others longer, depending on how the stops work out.

Any body know anything about Thomson Falls Idaho? Are the motels and a campground? Any riders with an open field?

This is a good place to stop for Day 3 and hang out for Day 4.

Howdy everyone! I live in Coupeville (Whidbey Isl. Wa.), and offer my place to stop, although it would be pretty early on at the start of the trip. I've got flat pasture (no cows or animals) that would be good for tents,..etc. I know the neighbors would put up any overflow in their pasture lands also. Here's a bit of a suggestion: Anyone getting on Hwy 20 at the Burlington/Sedro Wooley exit from Interstate 5,could then take Hwy 9 (at Sedro Wooley) North to Sumas and cross the border there, or continue on Hwy 20 and go over the North Cascades Hwy into Eastern Wa.. a very beautiful drive. There would be lots of places to stop..view the high country scenery, take pics..., whatever. Campgrounds along the way too. So, planners, check your maps and see what you think. By the way, are we going to have enough tools and mechanics along to rebuild a bike? How about a medic? It sounds like a fun trip.

                Thompson Falls.

I just figured out that Thompson Falls is in Montana (not Idaho) on Hwy 200.

So, does anybody know anything about Thompson Falls Montana?

I am plotting where the closet town is to every 400 miles of the route. Some of these places are small little towns out in the middle of no where. From there we can spread out to find our lodging options.

Here is how it is mapping out:

                  Day Town
                  -------------------------------
                  1 - Osoyoos, Canada
                  2&3 - Thompson Falls, Montana
                  4 - Cambridge, Idaho
                  5 - Lakeview, Oregon
                  6&7 - Bandon, Oregon
                  8 - Olympia, Washington

                    Denny,

Drove through thompson falls years ago. It's a pretty small town with some interesting roads in and out. I rememeber the "falls" were pretty small, read very small.

400 shounds like a good number of miles.

                        Ride

                        Denny,

I really like the map of the ride. Looks like some really nice country. I'm thinking we might want to go down the east side of flat head lake and stay nearer the rockies for the two night stay. that way if we want to do a day ride from there we can head up into the rockies. Come down 93 and then take the loop on the east side of the lake. I have been down that road and most of the traffic is on the west side of the lake. There is \ are a lot of spots near the west entance to glacier national park for camping. I guess the only issue would be more traffic in that area near the park.

This place might be nice http://www.glaciercamping.com/

They also have cabins so if someone wanted to treat themselves...

                        just my 2 c

                        again great route..

                        Jeff

How are you with screws? In the last two trips to the hospital I have acquired nine screws and a metal strap.

I was thinking about riding out to Yellowstone this summer. Then I read about this rally and now I'm thinking of combining the two. Either way, I would be coming past Rapid City. That's about 700 miles from home so I could make it the first night stay. If I do, I'll let you know, maybe we can meet up. I'll buy you a beer.
