  • August 12-13. I will arrive Friday night, August 10, stay the weekend at the Value Inn. The rides are planned for Saturday and Sunday, and then go home Monday.

Unless chevy454 chimes in between now and then, we will be riding around Wisconsin, rather than draggin at the strip.

The big "D" process, or the ex? Oh, never mind I don't want to know.

        Good to see you back!

During your execution we sorta picked up the ball and ran with it. Now that you are back we can get back to the "drag" part of this.

I would still like to ride a cool route on Sunday.

See you at the Value Inn Friday night! Look for the Venture with PA plates. (I am in the middle of a coolant leak and it is in pieces right now, but should be back together and running in a few days. I don't expect it but if I have any problems with it then I will bring the FZ, THEN we'll race...

            • big D & drag racing

My brother Jon is going through this, but he came out pretty good, got his motorcycle and the dog, most of the really important stuff.

I have been through that. Wife leaves, kids grow up leave and marry, then girlfriend leaves, BUT through it all faithful XS1100 is near ready to ride.

Just keep your bike. Other and more good stuff will come your way.

I believe my sanity may have suffered a little, but it never was quite right anyway. ride more and maintain a forward lookout.

              Happy motoring,

PS What is required in the way of safety equipment for this drag racing? Cost? schedule?

                    • Replace "Rustic" with " Scenic". These are the great backroads that the highways replaced!

Nah the flooding was more westish, tho we are getting some rain tomorrow.

                        From the WI DOT web site;

                        What is a Rustic Road?

To qualify for the Rustic Road program, a road:

                        * should have outstanding natural features along its borders such as rugged terrain, native vegetation, native wildlife, or include open areas with agricultural vistas which singly or in combination uniquely set this road apart from other roads.

                        * should be a lightly traveled local access road, one which serves the adjacent property owners and those wishing to travel by auto, bicycle, or hiking for purposes of recreational enjoyment of its rustic features.

                        * should be one not scheduled nor anticipated for major improvements which would change its rustic characteristics.

                        * should have, preferably, a minimum length of 2 miles and, where feasible, should provide a completed closure or loop, or connect to major highways at both ends of the route.

A Rustic Road may be dirt, gravel or paved road. It may be one-way or two-way. It may also have bicycle or hiking paths adjacent to or incorporated in the roadway area.

The maximum speed limit on a Rustic Road has been established by law at 45 mph. A speed limit as low as 25 mph may be established by the local governing authority.
Don't worry, I won't do too many of the gravel ones.

Actually, two of the ones I was looking at are now off the list, as someone poured gravel on one half, and tar on the other. I did find a replacement, but have no idea what it was. I might've gotten a bit lost.

....I don't have to lead anyone, do I?

                            • Well fellas, I hate to cut your numbers, but it looks like due to time and money issues, we won't be able to make it. Hopefully you will have a successful weekend and plan another next year. We wish you all safe and pleasant rides.

                              • Okay, I have a route. Test drive on saturday, since I have to work until then. Mostly, anyway.

I will post picks, and if anyone wants the Streets and Trips file, let me know and I will email it.

(and I still have to call Chevy. Sorry)
