Ordered the NLA bearing from a local shop. Different brand, but should be the same. When it gets here in about one week, I'll measure and let everyone know if it will work. Not cheap, about $80 for one double row ball bearing. It IS the main support bearing for the shaft that carries the primary chain and sits behind the clutch basket in the upper case.Ray Matteis

Bearing is here! It looks like the original, double row ball. I need to freeze it to install, as it is a tight fit. That is a good thing, as it has to take a LOT of load. More on the progress Monday evening my time.Ray Matteis

So I got a quote for two sets of Stainless Steel head studs. Please sit down!
"For us to make you only 24pcs, pricing would be $94.65 per pc."
If others would want a set, I can try and collect the information and see if I can get the per unit price back into our solar system. Reply here or send me a pm. I think if I could do 120 pcs. I might be able to get the price down to $70 per. I'm going to call and talk with them Wednesday, so I'll let everyone who may be interested know what is going on.Ray Matteis

Well, as I DO want the stainless, I just ordered two sets of studs. It will be a bit before I get them, but the good news is ARP will now have the specs for anyone else who would want to buy them. I've not done much lately, as I'm putting in a replacement air compressor. My 20 gallon is 35 years old, and as of 2005 they put a 20 year service date on ALL compressor tanks. My new unit should be ready to go in about one more week, if I can get up early and into the attic before it reaches 130F. This is about 11:00am local time!Ray Matteis

Good for you.
We're getting to the stage of life where we should do what we really want because we can't take it with us when we're gone.-Mike

So three months later and the package just got to my door. two complete sets of head studs, with shipping, $2,300.27. OUCH! but it is what I wanted so I don't need to worry about rust. I'll have one set on my "new" engine I'm building, plus a spare set. These are ARP studs designed to be stronger than stock units and Stainless Steel on top of that.
I have had things here at home that needed my time and even more money, so not sure when I'll be going back to work on the engine. I would like to start next week, but I don't think I'll have the time to do that.Ray Matteis
