Yep, the originals are pretty hard to come by cheap,,,,looks like yours are gone, best bet and cheap to do is get a set of Harley Dyna mufflers,,,,,cheap, ebay or craigslist,,,,there is a lot of info on how to put these on the xs1100, I have done it on previous bikes,,,,LOVE THE SOUND,,,sounds like a 427 Shelby Cobra from the 60's,,,not too loud but a great roar when opened up. It will keep the power of the xs1100, but there is a almost unnoticable loss at the low rev range. Anywho,,,if you cant find a good set,,,,do the Harley muffs,,,,should be under 60.00 for a set and the pipe adapters needed, found at most auto parts stores,,,,,,Mike in San DIego

Hi Eab, This list was put together by our brothers across the pond. Maybe a bit more outdated but still good info and can provide some leads for replacements. http://xs1100.com/forum/index.php?topic=5436.0 I got the Heinz Wyes a few years back and the Oz folks posted a quantity buy deal with him since then.

They look pretty rotted out,,,,,check out the "search" section for harley mufflers,,,,you can saw off the old mufflers after the crossover or before, keeping the headpipes which are probably good,,,,get a pair of harley mufflers, a pair of muffler pipe adapters and you will be good to go,,,,,unless you can score a reasonable factory set,,,,,,Mike in San DIego

Eab, There is a shop in the U.K. Predator motorcycle sports hat is making SS versions. I have not seen their work, only read a few reviews.

If I am reading the Overlander price list correctly a system for the XS is US$ 1700 plus shipping from NZ.
Suddenly the Harley muffler sounds like a grand plan.

maximan put the UK system on a bike a few years ago. It didn't do much for power, and I thought the design was flawed. The final pipe into the muffler was the same diameter as the head pipe.Ray Matteis

THe Harley muffs do not need welding, just some good auto exhaust clamps, or, believe it or not, the best clamps are also the harley muff clamps, solid and durable, lots of harley pairs of mufflers around,,,ebay or craigslist, Mike in Sun Diego

I'd been looking through that fitment thread but I have zero confidence that I've properly digested it. Anyone know if pipes from a '79 1100F would fit on a 78? From what I'd read on the guide, it looks doubtful but figured I'd ask becaaaaause https://www.ebay.com/itm/1979-Yamaha...temCondition=4

Headers look right and sweep away from the oil filter, the mounts on the muffler appear to be quite adjustable, no crossover to deal with. Prob an easy bolt up. Didn't see a stop for side or center stands, other interference would be with the rear brake pedal.
my guess = okay
