I'm interested. In both. The Indy rally is only 715 miles straight up I-44.

But a long road trip to Reno (1650 miles long) would be great. Talk about scenic variety.

Besides, "Zilla" only has 11,000 miles now. He's just now gettin' broke in good.

          Bubba...(Shannon?)

I live 124.7 miles sse of Wichita. Stillwater to be exact. I have the 750 on eBay right now. Tryin to raise funds for a crotch rockets.

I take it you're in or around Hutchinson?

I'm thinking about going to the TeXSive rally this year if they do it again...and if they let Okies attend However I was born and reared TXN.

Hey that's nice XS11 you got there. How many miles ya got on that gorilla? How long ya had it? Any road trips?

I just bought one on eBay couple days ago that looks almost like it. It's a fully dressed '80 Special (Yamaha fairing, lowers, hardbags, backrest). Hopefully I can get it running without to much hassle. But if not I'll just rebuild it. I've been wanting a hotrod 80 special for a long time now.

              Reno Rally

Lookin foreward to seeing yall in Reno. I am only an hour out and ride to reno everyday. September would be great too! First rally and my birthday to boot. I had my xs out the other day and I dumped the clutch at a stop sign boy does a shaft drive pack a punch... I was tellin myself "NOSE DOWN! NOSE DOWN!" and laughing my %#@ off. Big difference from my CB550.

As a general question, I am going to replace my tires on my 80 XS Special and am wondering what would be a good all around tire for commuting.

Further, I was reading about one of the gold wing bikes running a battery that will fit the 1100 does anyone remember what one it was? Anyway thanks for the fun forum.

Welcome sappod! Dunlop Elite II's cost more, but last almost twice as long as most others. In case you just don't like changing tires. You'll have to hook up with us some weekend! Glad to hear your nearby, and will be at the rally

Kenda makes GOOD 6 PLY for reasonable prices. I have heard guys say they get 14-15,000 pretty regular

Sept. 3rd-5th. We'll look forward to seeing you. So far I have Sun. the 4th mapped out. The 3rd and the 5th will be shorter rides to give people a break on Sat. from riding in, and a chance for the local guys to get home on Mon. the 5th to possibly save a nights motel bill. Still looking into lodging in South Lake Tahoe. So far it looks like we may have upwards of 15 bikes, so it should be a pretty good time.

I hope to make it. Of course I wanted to go to TeXSive Lite and something came up that shot me down at the last minute.

However A good friend of mine just bought an 81 XS11 Special. He's lives north of the Springs (Colorado). He wants to ride out to Reno with me and take "America's Loneliest Highway". So I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

                            Reno/Tahoe?

You can tick me in as a definite possibility.
Leaving next Monday on a run from Vancouver Island down 101 to Calif. Then on to Infenion Raceway for the super bike races.
I will use that a practice for labor day weekend.

I've got to get off my butt and finish the plans. My attention has been drawn away lately. The weather hasn't been helping. I want to take a ride up to Tahoe and check out a few places to stay. Thats the only major thing left to get done. But the conditions haven't been friendly enough for my pretty bike. Sorry for my not keeping you guys informed better.
