  • i no longer see an oil leak. yay!

    but............

blew another fuse (10 A) simply by idling the bike for 2 minutes. i got the blade fuses and the blown one is the one on the far left. this is the second time this same fuse has blown. i checked the two ground under the tank and they look brand new/tight. I will check the other two next to regulator tonight.

    • What color are the wires for the fuse? That'll help narrow it down a little.

The line side of the fuse should be a Brown wire and the load side should be either a Red/Yellow-stripe (Headlight) or Red/White-stripe (Ignition) wire.

          • Ah, the fuses are wrong if the one on the far left is the one that popped.

Left to right, the fuses should be:
            30A Main
            20A Turn Signals
            10A Headlights
            10A Ignition

You have a 6-pole fuse block with six slots for the fuses and but only four of them are being used, the 30A fuse is just a spare sitting in an empty slot and there are no wires connected to it.

The 20A fuse in the Ignition slot (Red/White wire) next to the 30A fuse is wrong, it's supposed to be a 10A.

Take the 10A fuse out of the far left slot and put in the 30A fuse.

Replace the 20A fuse in the Ignition slot with the 10A fuse.

Put the 20A fuse in one of the two empty slots as a spare.

                20A Signal

                10A Ignition

                      • so after rtv was put under the valve cover and in the middle hole (cam chain tensioner?), my bike is smoking a little when i idle it. i have not gone out for a ride yet. oh yeah, i also put seafoam in the gasoline. would any of these lead to a light smokeyness coming from the mufflers (where my footrest is) it seems?

                        • Maybe the Seafoam if enough was added, not the other things, ride it and it should clear up. You may have got oil on the pipe and it is burning off or it is leaking by the footrest.

i put about a cup of seafoam. a third of the bottle. napa guy said to put a lot and ride the bike like i stole it.

ive searched the forum for oil sight, and not finding results.
my oil sight is dirty and hard to see what the actual level of the oil is. i have to shine a flashlight and even then im not sure.

is there i way to clean the glass? i tried degreaser but its not any better.

Maybe drop the oil pan and spray brake clean on the site-glass? I would try brake clean first and then try carb cleaner if that doesn't work. I am not sure if that would give you access or not.

Or easier, put bike on sidestand, pull clutch cover and then clean the glass. I used B12 chemtool on a Qtip to clean it. Do NOT spray just anything at it, as there is an O ring sealing the glass and you do NOT want to have it swell or decompose.
