It's a wonderful thing to step away from your project to clear your head from time to time.....
OK revistited the spooge holes and was convinced I was the only owner of an XS1100 that had MC's with no spooge holes....this was after several magnifying glass inspections and jabbing every small object I could find in this imaginary hole...they just aren't there.... Wrong had to make a spooge hole killer out of a coat hanger to get the strength, size, and sharpness to knock out the plugged holes.....and sure enough there they are....
So got the rear brakes all bled out and 95% of fronts before time got in the way

Wait a minute if I have brakes then I should be ready to crank it and take it around the block.....Oh so tempting....I purposely haven't put fluids in, to prevent the dreaded..."Rush to Ride syndrome"

Paint, lets talk....To fit the build specs.... Everything done in house and stay under $1500 in including the cost of bike....So I get to paint the girl
Question on effects of flat, satin, and gloss clear coat on matte, satin, and gloss paint.... Ok let's see if I can ask and still not state my stupidity...
I understand what flat clear on matte paint will look like and satin on satin, gloss on gloss... My question is what effect does gloss clear over satin paint look like? Or satin gloss clear over gloss paint effect would be...
So in short does the sheen of the clear coat dominate the sheen of the paint and no effects of the paint would be seen.
Clear as mud!!!!!

The old paint is pretty durable. If you spill brake fluid it just wipes and washes off.
Finish working with the brake fluid before you paint so you don't have to worry about the new paint.

The clear WILL give something to the final paint. A gloss should look like a coating of water on the paint, see through and glossy. Flat will be just that, flat with no shine. Match the final coat with the base coat for the best look. If you have semi gloss and high gloss, base, you MAY need two clears. the high gloss clear will push the semi base up, but a flat SHOULD look like a semi with a gloss clear. This is all JMHO, as a backyard painter....
