Got the float levels to 25.7mm as per the manual.

Previous owner had them all basically flat and level...

                Wow what a price difference!

It's compatible with my 79? They have 1980 listed, but not 79..

                Thanks either way! Wow

The easiest way would be to get the correct brass or plastic floats (they are interchangeable) which then could be set to the correct measurement. You could probably get those that you have to work by using the clear plastic tube method to get them all at the same/correct level. This would probably involve removing the carbs and resetting the floats many times. If you have the few extra bucks I would just get the correct floats, waaaay less hassle, JMHO.

Yes floats can be used in any year, you just have a separate height adjustment for plastic (23mm) vs brass (25.7mm) floats.

bikerphil has a good method there for setting levels, but I havent found swapping types to need more than a ruler. Then on second thought I am not 100% positive those carbs I did were supposed to be plastic in first place. I did that a few years ago.

Well just for some giggles... I put the carbs on with the floats as they were. I synced the valves manually and turned the idle screws out 1 3/4 turn.

I just wanted to see if it would run at all, and if it sounded any better with the carbs at least clean and somewhat synced.

                      It didn't. Lol.

So.... I'm gonna buy the correct floats...

I also think the floats how I set them were starving the engine out anyway, it would only run with the fully enriched mode.

I heard the bike run though... I missed it, as crappy as it runs. It'll just get better from here.

With the proper fuel levels, synced carbs, and proper back pressure, it'll run.

                      I hope.

Those floats should all be about level, then it will have enough fuel to run. They should all be the same measurment whatever that would be.

I'll set the floats level and see what happens.

It would be nice to see an improvement with what I have done.

Just for progress sake... I miss riding it. So I want to hear it at least!

I leveled the floats this morning and popped the carbs back on for curiosity sake. Since I know it ran ( ish ) with the floats how they were, I just put em back to it.

it runs without the choke now. but still not the best, heck, it ran better before.

Guess I really have to wait for the Carbtune to come...
