You can check them with a vacuum pump or just hook them up to a vacuum source on your car. Tee them all together and make certain the all read the same under the same condition.

Do that first and then we can explain how to adjust your idle mixture with the guages.

Ok, will try to get that done in a bit. What makes you think they are not right by looking at the pics?

Nothing really, but it looks like at least 2 cyls are a little rich. Just want to be certain the guages are reading correctly or all is for nothing.

Ah ok. The dark one is the carb that had needle I had to drill out. It also has a float with the sides crushed in. No surprise that one is so different.

Will hooking all 4 gauges into a 4 way aquarium air pump manifold then hooking that to one of the vac hook ups on the bike work for testing this?

A steady vac source would be better. The bike will bounce around.

That filled hole is a non factor. Completely filled in, smooth on both sides. How much with that float be a problem and is there any way to fix it? Asked Ray about it and said it shouldn't be a problem.

A fairly big problem... If it's size is different from the rest, it will displace less fuel in the bowl and cause a rich condition.... which is what your seeing. As far as 'fixing' it, that depends. If it's crushed too much, replacement will be the only fix. Some have 'unsoldered' these and straightened them and resoldered them, but that's extremely tricky to do without changing it's weight. Some have put the float in boiling water and the expanded air from the heat has 'puffed' the float back into shape. Sometimes these things work, sometimes not...

The outside ends are "bowled" in. I tried boiling water with no luck. Looks like I need to dump even more money into these things. It never ends does it? Starting to think its just easier to put the mystery carbs back on. I could at least ride it with them.
