When I got my XJ the carbs were really crapped up.Frozen tight. Scored a set on Ebay cheap. Looked really clean. Decided to try the Yam carb cleaner that mixes with gas on the original carbs. Best thing I ever used. they are on it now. My go to preferred. Hands down.

That might work, just keep flushing, well, the last solution was a tad too strong for aluminum, kept my eye on it and was starting to turn it white, nutralized it and washed it heavily. I've got the interneals clean with carb cleaner, I want to shine the outside up a little?? I keep trying to find an inexpensive way, and by the time I'm done, could have bought brand new carbs..lol81 XS1100H

I've done the PineSol thing many times with great results. Agree with Steve that it is best to remove all rubber parts including the starter jet shaft. I generally break down the set which can be a PIA but it does keep everything right. If you choose not to remove these parts then you need to be really careful to remove all the PineSol to be sure things don't get gummed up. Work the starter jet shaft back and forth a bunch and put in some silicone to keep the shaft lubed.

Whatever you do, don't use vinegar to clean your carbs.

That has to be one of the best follow up post I've yet to receive on this forum, you guys are awesome, and I'm going to give this a try. I might even make a sand blasting style enclosure, plywood/plexiglass that I have laying around. so it doesn't create a cloud and end up on everything. But a super Thanks! on this idea. Love suggestions that come with photos and how to's. Don't get me wrong, don't want to sound ungrateful for other suggestions, just Evey once in a while, out of the park it goes. I've heard other post mention something about soda blasting, but never new what they were talking about and dummy me never asked. So simple!!81 XS1100H
