As a comparison, look at the rear swingarm on any bike you care to mention.
Not a single one of them has two separate arms; they are all either a U-shape or some kinda triangulated framework. Ask yourself, why?
Also note the brake torque arms on the photo that counteract an Earles fork's tendency to lift when braking.
And yes, lots of examples of LL forks with separate links.
1950s Douglas, 1960's Hondas, etc. etc. They all flexed.
