Not sure how I missed this thread
I have eliminated my YICS, but in a slightly different way due to my engine being apart. This is defiantly a great way to do it for those that don't have the head off and don't want to. A big hurrah to getting rid of the bane of carb tuning.K. Johnson

also the new vmax has the variable intake runners like the r1. at upper rpm's the top half of the velocity stacks come off and make them shorter..." She'll make point five past lightspeed. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid. I've made a lot of special modifications myself. "

The YICS ELIMINATOR WORKS GREAT!!
Hey Yahman,
When I installed the eliminator a few months ago the bike ran worse than without it. I thought that we had synched the carbs a few weeks earlier using the homemade yics tool. So, I took it out and waited for the next opportunity Bikerphil could come visit with his sychronizer.
Well, today was the day....
We installed the Eliminator and fired it up, couldn't believe how far off the carbs were. I must have done something wrong building the homemade yics tool!! Anyway the bike ran great after Phil synched the carbs!! It even corrected a bit of a stutter it had between 1,500 and 2,100 RPMs. The XJ has become my daily rider so I'll keep you posted.
BTW - How long have you ridden yours with Eliminator in and how are the O-rings hoding up.
Thanks for a great solution to a PITA problem.1980G Standard, Restored

I've put a little over 300 miles on my XJ with the YICS Eliminator installed. It runs great and I see no need to remove it.
The Viton O-rings meet "American Society for Testing and Materials" (ASTM), and "Society of Automotive Engineers" (SAE) Specifications. They should last for at least 40,000 miles if you just install it and do not remove it. The only real wear and tear that happens to the O-rings is when the YICS Eliminator is removed from the engine.
If anyone else would like a YICS Eliminator tool they are available on eBay, just do a search using "YICS Eliminator" and you should find it. Or you can click on the link below for more info.

Tool Installed
Today I finally got to install "The Eliminator" . I had to clean the passage and had a tense moment when I got the cleaning apparatus ( wire and cloth) stuck but all went well . I was surprised at synch time that my levels were close which leads me to imagine that it may have been plugged with crap . Never-the-less , my bike runs great and sounds great and I'm definately leaving it in .
