      Ha!

      You guys got it cheap.

      Petrol over here is:
      92.6 pence average per litre
      1 US gallon = approx 3.785 litres
      92.6 X 3.785 = 3.50 GBP per US gallon
according to xe.com currency converter that's 6.134 USD per gallon !!!!!!!!

Most of it is tax and the way the tax is set up there are taxes on taxes so as oil prices go up so does the government's cut.

Still they gotta pay for our share of the Iraq war somehow.

Yesterday gasoline was $2.899 per gallon for regular. Like you mentioned, during the last two weeks gas has went up over thirty cents here also.
I've been riding to work as much as possible for multiple reasons.

Same station that was $2.92 yesterday is now $3.10 for 87 octane. Another 8 cents overnight. Heard on the news that it'll be over $3/gal. by May. I've got news for the news people! I guess they just listen to analysts instead of reading the signs at the gas stations. They are being paid altogether too much if they're that out of touch.

I guess we're lucky (but probably not for long), regular unleaded is 2.79 and Premium (you know how the XS loves that stuff) is 2.97. Guess I ought to go fill SWMBO's van, the Jeep, the Battle Cruiser and all the cans I can find in the garage.

Ah yes, the famous VAT (value added tax). Some folks want to do that here, "What a bunch of moroons!", to paraphrase Bugs Bunny.

One dollar sixty eight per litre and rising. Diesel One dollar twenty three per litre. SOB's. Diesel was forty four cents a litre a few short years back, thats why I went diesel. What a F*#* rip-off. Prices are mostly taxes from the ass wipe Government. All based on percentages. Gas goes up - gas taxes go up. Obscene. The mealy mouthed weasels are even raising road user charges. It's all just so bloody contemptible.

                        Greed. Pure greed.

I remember "Hi-Test" was $0.299 per gallon USD at the Ivy Hill Shell in Irvington NJ. in 1969. WTF changed?? Oh yeah, we had a practice gas shortage in 1973, gas shot up to $0.75 USD and everyone waited for hours and were grateful for 4 gallons of the stuff. That worked well, and they have been 'refining' that practice ever since. They are very good at it now.

"Value Added Tax" what bl**dy value?

I think VAT goes on top of "Fuel Duty"
