  • Lookin' good again with the hard cases all mounted! See you musta' been at the point a 'cold one' fit the hand better than wrenches did anyways.

    • Yeah, these bags are a little bigger and are a bit more useful.

Gotta take those XJ shocks off and rebuild them AGAIN. They're leaking all over the rear brake AGAIN! Got some different seals this time. Those LeakProof seals are garbage.

Ahh. I had the newer model, and will replace them with floods, like on my XS.

Bummer on havin' to rebuild those shocks.......again! FWIW, found through conversation among riders a decade ago when still involved in the moto-x world the LeakProof brand seals were exactly as you stated. Got faith in ya' buddy, you'll get that resolved.

I don't know how many on the original seals but the LeakProofs didn't even make it a season....TWICE. Gonna try some Emgo this round.

That's the same trunk I've had for 3-4 years. It's detachable and I use it for a suitcase on trips so you never see it on a ride. Just when I arrive or leave.

I run 30 usually but bump it to 40 when the bike is loaded down.

                  • Greg...last season when Mark and i installed my set of XJ shocks that we rebuilt... they worked at first then wouldnt hold air and was leaking fork oil on the right shock...turned out there was a nut/bolt on the frame that was too long exerting pressure onto the side of the shock causing it to misalign internally and caused the oil to pass the seals... there was visible gouge into the side of the shock...so check to be sure nothing is pressing on them...

                    • I'm sure Ben. The only clearance issue I've had since I switched to the XJ shocks 5 years ago is the mount for the rear brake hose rubbing a hole in the dust cover. Fixed that.

                      • Just a thought guys. How about new shocks? Technical improvements have been made since 1982.

You're right, Ben. Go back to the junkyard.

Well...im not the first and not likely to be the last ...whatever works for you...so if new expensive stuff floatsyour boat then by all means have at it...and tell me pls...what is wrong with recyling reusing and refurbishing old parts? Why dont we all just scrap thesr old bikes and just buy something new? Unless u r teasing me again..i find your statement somewhat arrogant
