it was very, very easy. just put the screwdriver edge on the lip of the bucket and the other edge against the camshaft rod, not the lobe and twist. It pushes right down and the shim will pop right out with something like a tiny screwdriver through that notch and then grabbed it with a magnet. I put them back in the same way. Put all 4 back in in probably 6 minutes. I only had 4 out of spec.

Possibly last ride of the season
Getting colder here in the mornings, but pretty nice afternoons for the past 3 days. Got out and put some miles on her before the clubman bars arrive. Some of the new paint "crazed" under the clearcoat, so, I imagine "overnight" is not enough time to let Tremclad rust paint cure and gas out. The Yamaha a la Norton logo is new, (model paint is far cheaper than a sticker). Still hunting for the elusive 7+" round headlight to replace the rectangle...cheaply that is.)

The round special headlight won't fit right with those standard ears. It sits back too close to the gauges. You need some special ears to properly mount the round light on there.
The special ears are slightly longer where they fit between the top and bottom portion of the triple tree but the bottom is easily trimmed down to fit.
I have extras of both the halogen headlight setup and ears. PM me if your interested and I'll come up with a price for you.Greg

Got out in the garage today and pulled the busted fairing off ol' okie. Forks look ok but that old tubular fork brace is bent and needs to come off so I can get the front end straightened out. All in all it doesn't look bad though.
I need a fork brace for a special and a set of the later saddle bag mounts, like for an 80 or 81, if anyone has that stuff laying around.
Thanks to everyone for your help and support during this ordeal. Y'all make me proud to be associated with you.Greg

Greg I just got a new to me set of bags. I believe the mounts are on them. Bags are ok condition but the chrome stuff surrounding them is missing parts. Probably be Saturday before I can check and take pics. I think they are off a venturer2-79 XS1100 SF

Thanks Ras, all I need are the L shaped plates that the bags mount to. The only chrome bars I use with these aftermarket bags are the ones that run between them across the back behind the rear tire.
Lemme know.Greg
