  • Bloody nothin'

    But I got an excuse.
The first sign of spring was heard on our street today.
Ringdingadinga, the witless teenager down the street running his dirtbike around the block. This inspired me to consider pulling my XS11 rig out from under it's tarp under the rear deck and wheeling it around to the garage to see if it will start.
Alas, my son's XS750 rig AND his XS650 bike are in pieces in the garage, my own BSA 250 is in there too plus the snowblower is still there so there's no effin' room for the rig.
OK, I guess the bikes could be shuffled around to free up enough space. And I could steal my battery back from my son's rig.
But dare I put the snowblower away yet? I could be summoning the April Blizzard by doing so.

    • I've got over 400kms on my ST, so far. But then I had it out in January and in February, too, for one day each before it snowed.

It's stil trying to snow, but it's above freezing..
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

Glider bench is in process. SWMBO is will picking out colors, but the plant holder that you probably can't quite see in the picture, the milk cans and the glider bench are getting stripped and painted in matching colors that complement the colors of the house.

As for the hub caps on the car in the driveway, that one is indeed mine. Got tired of buying new ones, stupid things keep coming off on these stupid Ca roads with the potholes, and so I just took ALL of them off so they match. The one across the street ain't mine so I don't have anything to say about that one. Still gotta deal with the lid on the trunk though, and gotta fix the paint on the tank. Buying the paint kit for that next payday and should have it done in time for the dream machines show. Just gotta mask it off after I fix the corner and get it sanded down and prepped, I will of course do the tank off the bike. But with the duplicolor kit, I can do the whole job in about 8 hours from off the bike to back on the bike. And while it's not show quality, it's a pretty good 6 foot job, which is good enough for me.

                • Back in the garage

My son brought a buddy over to help and they fixed up his XS750 rig so he could ride it over to his place and there'd be room for the XS11 rig in the garage.
Then son, buddy & self hauled my XS11 rig out from under the back deck and into the back yard.
I was going to push the rig around to the garage but my son swore he'd start it up.
                  Crank crank crank; nothing.
Remember to switch the gas taps on.
                  Crank crank crank; BLAM!
Think to check the plug wire placement. Son had swapped #1 & #2 wires when he'd sprayed fogging oil into the plug holes last fall. Fix that.
                  Crank crank; purr purr.
DROVE the rig around to the garage & parked it.
Tomorrow; oil change, check tire pressures, buy plates.
I may even put the snowblower away, but perhaps that's pushing my luck too far?

Fred you should be somewhere warmer. Had a nice comfy ride last evening same as last couple months down here.

Snow is to visit, not endure. I guess its too late to change now, huh?

                    Glad you'll be riding soon.

Worked till 11:00 last night & got it all back together - seat, bags & all. Just have to put the mirrors back on & i'm ready to go. Maybe next week it'll be above 0C in the morn & then let the rumbling begin to work - what a feeling -I did have a few running sessions with the shed door open & got " too late in evening complaints from the crew" I look at it as a sign of spring hehe - Dan

                      • I pulled the Vetter trunk off and tied the back piece of the saddlebag frame to the luggage rack so everything is solid and doesn't move around. Can't get the stupid thing to stay tight through the original turn signal mounting holes where it mounts through.

Mounted the trunk back on and adjusted the cam chain adjuster, then took it out for a ride. Everything was good, ran good, chain noise was as quiet as it ever gets . Gotta plan on checking the valves again at some point.
