    • DiverRay, did you custom make your lowers?
No, those are from Pacifico/Yamaha. They were part of an option kit in '78 and very early '79. I found them on ebay for about $20!

          • We rode 'em!

This was the first time in a long time that John and I have been able to get out for a real ride. It will NOT be very long before we do it again...

Of the 650 miles that we rode this weekend... about 500 of those miles were on 65 mph two lane roads that looked a lot like this... only paved.

An INCREDIBLE weekend! We even found a smoking gun...

            and some bad advice...

                • Oh, yeah! Nice ride; nice roads!

The seasoning somehow doesn't really appeal but the smokehouse looks tasty.

It was a very nice piece of road but it was a dead end (cemetery road).
                    and thank you!

The smokehouse smelled SOOOOO good. The seasoning, however, was at a fishmarket... the smell was... ocean fresh.

                    • New front tire and valve stem. Old one was starting to split. Learned that NAPA does carry motorcycle tire valve attend, you just have to order them or go to a NAPA that is the distribution warehouse. 6 bucks and didn't have wait for shipping. Found that my front tire gets about 4k more miles than the rear.

                      • Just Plain WOW!

I went to visit TKat and got a: TKAT Fork Brace!
                        What a wonderful handling improvement.
No longer do I have the low-speed/parking lot wobbles.
The bike now tracks like it is on rails! I did do a short ride up into the local hills and was amazed.
TKat is a great guy with many great stories and wisdom.

If you want a handling improvement, GET a fork brace from him.
I wish I'd gotten one 35 years ago - it is like riding a new bike!

Just be careful.......the rear of bike in stock form and frame geometry will have a hard time following suit if pushed to hard in corners, but yes, an even noticable difference at 5mph turning in a parking lot!

                          • Thanks for the caution Motoman.
I am not a very aggressive rider in my mature years.
                            So as a theory question...
if pushed in cornering with the new brace - what would the rear suspension do under stress?
                            Let go /break traction?

                            • The rear suspension not having dampening on compression gets 'unhappy' and rear of bike looks like it needs 'booty' shorts...........and yours will need cleaning.

Now tires WITHOUT a center grove, and the bike will be like a new bike even in the rain groves. Yeah, I really like talking with Tkat! He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. And the stories about racing Baja..........
