Be very careful when doing this mod. Follow the instructions to the T. Otherwise, you could create a problem that you did not have. Just saying to make sure that the bike and engine are in the proper position before removing old and installing new tensioner.

              Another Opinion.

              Hey Cajun,

The only thing is that this is still a relatively new mod....just a few years or so. We've discussed this before, that this will possibly allow the chain to stretch/wear beyond the recommended service limit length, both because it takes up more slack than the OEM, and also because without actually removing it, you can't easily check for both the chain slack/wear and how far the adjuster has adjusted.

Not trying to be naysayer regarding the mod..I think it's okay, but it does have a drawback with regards to being able to (easily) monitor the chain wear/slack. And it being touted as a SET and Forget thing, I'm sure there will be folks that will actually totally forget about it, and so then the chain has a chance to wear/stretch beyond the safe wear/length limit...to a point where it could actually either break, or just allow enough slack to develop to then allow a tooth jump event, as well as just reduced performance due to valve timing being way out.

This is why I didn't jump on this band wagon, but instead performed the Carriage bolt and lock nuts MOD to the OEM adjuster...I posted a thread about it this past year. This allows me to set/adjust the tension manually, as well as monitor the amount of wear/slack that is developing as I adjust it, and this other mod also PREVENTS the accidental LOSS of tension which can result in a wrecked engine/valves.

              Your choice. T.C.

Here's a thread, if you like tinkering, that shows how I sized the ACCT to be the same as the OEM CCT so no unnecessary wear will take place:

Thanks for the additional info. There is nothing really wrong with my original tensioner so I will be moving slowly. thanks for the additional thread ... will be looking through that too.

The only thing I'd add to the procedure is a drop of Locktite Blue on the set screw and locknut.

I'm going to pull mine back out to make sure I did just that.

                        • I got one recently for a Raptor 700 and with Phil's help, installed it into my bike with very minor modding to the adjuster.
