          I would look for "Venture cam chain" and "Vmax cam chain". Took a while but found the right deal

            When you do your search for "venture cam chain" or Vmax cam chain", also try "xvz1200" or "vmx1200" cam chain. Also, if the seller is a wrecking yard, email him and ask if they have the tensioner. They may not have listed it and if you ask they will let you know the listing number. Thats how I got two of them for $7 apiece. Especially ask if they have the cam chain guides listed.

              The secret is to read up on eBay's search hints. I like to try and get it all in one shot. If it's a long, complex word, I even try to guess some common misspellings sometimes. This whole thing below is a good start;

              (vmax,v-max,v max,venture,xvz1200,xvz 1200,vmx 1200,vmx1200) (tentioner,tensioner,chain)

              Happy hunting.

                Thanks for all the advice. I pride myself on knowing how to use search engines to find pretty much anything the first time I search for it. That said, I give up. In the last week I've talked to over two dozen salvage yards and other douchebags who want $70 or more for just one of these things and it's just getting ridiculously frustrating. Realistically it only takes about five minutes to adjust the cam chain tension and I can't imagine needing to do it more often than once every season.

                WHEN one of you ends up with a spare auto tensioner let me know. I'm done playing this stupid "hide and seek and haggle" game.

                  Just shave off a tiny bit of metal in one of the holes and she goes right in just right.

                    I have to find it but I have a 550 Vision tensioner that I'll let go for postage. I just need to make sure it's not my venture tensioner first...

                      Here's a question. In the search for alternate auto CCT's, does anyone know of one that has a wider bolt pattern? I realize the Vision is slightly wider, but it doesn't sound like it's too far off and doesn't look to have much outer meat to spare around the bolt holes. I want one for my buddies kz1000 and it's probably a good 5mm wider.

                        The outer metal does NOT hold the tensioner down. The metal near the center is what holds the tension, and keep things together. I've seen a LOT of parts with slots, not tight holes, for mounting. Look for something close, and worry about the center and gasket fit.

                          Where do i find this "C"? I've got the tensioner, but if this can be screwed up, I am the one to do it.

                            Hi Dan,

                            If you pull the timing cover off, its the one on the left side of the engine. It should have 4 allen head bolts holding it in place. Under that cover is your timing setup, which of course has the timing plate. On that plate you will see a few marks, one line has a T under it, and another has a C under it. That is the C mark being discussed.
