What type of helmet?

Went to full face after getting broadsided by a car in '71 with an open face.
Have had Bell and Shoei. Current helment is a HJC Full Face, Snell and DOT approved. For an inexpensive helmet, fit and finish is very good. I don't know how well it works in a crash and don't care to find out. In my moto days, full face Bell Moto was my choice. The moto helmets don't work to well on a street bike, specially when you get close to a C note on the speedo. I don't even like riding around the block without a helmet.

Used to carry an open face on the side of my bike years ago, for use in those states/commonwealths that require a hard head. Then I had my own "incident" many years ago, documented on here somewhere I believe. After that I did not ride for almost 20 years. Now, full face helmet all the time. I figure if I am buying a helmet for protection purposes and not just to comply with a law, it seems foolish not to buy one that fully protects my head and face.

I am also a full face helmet wearer. My father beat the whole helmet thing into my head from a young age. I guess it stuck, who would have thought it? have a nice day and ride safe

Zuess Modular

I got a Zuess full face flip up helmet a few years ago.

Would not recommend it. It is cheap -Plastic latches etc. and NOISY. Face shield does not seal nor stay in various positions well. Wind noise is loud. Lowest price favailable for that type helmet, but...

for a few dollars more , I could have bought a Nolan.

Full face for me

I have both open face and full face helmets and I always choose one of the full face helmets when I ride. I have a Shoei full face or an open face (mfr. not known) for my passenger to choose whenever I decide I should be saddled with a passenger. My personal helmet is a Simpson that I have had for years. The fit, finish, workmanship and ratings are very good and it is light weight too. Vision and fogging up are never been a problem and it has both clear and tinted windscreens with tear-off lugs. Here in South louisiana I do use tear-offs at certain times of the year, like late Summer when the love bugs are out.

Got a deal

Use an Arai Quantum II. Got it from my sisters boyfriend for $50. He used to race gokarts and wore it one time because of rules. He now belongs to the H-D types and feels that a helmet is unneeded. Unfortunate, because my sister now rides without one. My passinger hat is a Shoei with a Snell 2000 ( i think) rating. Of course it is a full face.

I agree, my helmet is a $15 junk fiberglass "novelty" (it even says so inside on a sewn in label). I guess I'm just too young to know better, even though I do.

As a side-note, my dad ran into a deer on an old 750, wearing a full face. So I do know the benefits of wearing one, without one I likely wouldn't be here.

I generally wear my full face helmet. Since I don't have a windscreen, wearing a full face is pretty damn handy. It gets a bit warm in there in the summer, but at speeds over 45 or so my eyes tear up so bad I can't see where I'm going. If I'm going out for a slow, casual ride around the neighborhood I'll wear my 3/4 helmet.

I always wear a full face - a ride on the hide is just a breath away when on the road. It isn't a matter of if you will, just when! It don't matter how good you are there is always someone out there with a cell phone, or not paying attention.

I also have the Icon domain 2 and a 79f that doesn't run yet , list price for the helmet was 390 but got mine nib for 260 on fleabay

paid more for mine, got it from kneedraggers.com not really catering to the cruiser market much, but they have great customer service. they have a sweet "keep returning it until you have a size that fits" warranty on their helmets and jackets, which is outstanding.

Full-face for the longest while but they are a pest to wear with glasses.
Then I got a flip-face at a token price from a list member because it didn't fit him although it fits me just fine.
Only drawback is remembering to close the front before you start the bike moving.

I actually say a guy going down the road on a sport bike the other day with the bottom of his helmet still up. He must've wanted it that way, because I saw him come back going the other direction, and it was still up!

Full face HJC CL 14. The visor mechanism is complicated and sucks, and is expensive to replace after it breaks. Visor is always blowing open due to windsheild on the bike creating a vacuum. I'm trying a modular next.

Wow I must be different I'm in the 2% with a half helmut - when it rains hard i put a snap on windshield on it - always have good shades to take the wind, bugs & some rain. In the "early spring" and late fall I do wear a HJC open face with a full front shield on it this set-up keeps me warm (ears & face) - I have to or my face would get frozen on the way to work in the morning. I must admit I do like the wind & open ears to hear the bike. Too many years riding a snowmachine with a full helmut don't want to on the bike unless really cold weather make me have to then I'm glad for the cold wind protection.

Stupid is stupid

I know but only wear full face when need it for cold like mornings to work right now always carry half with retractable eye screen in bags in case caught in hail storm in mountains. Both are scorpion and they are great deal for price, would like modular for long trips so can drink without on off all the time. But 90 percent of time I wear none as I will be on the way home. Fullface does interfere with my pheripheral vision with out a doubt but can deal with it but look at as my choice to live or die so no helmets here or mountain biking but do wear it kayaking that's about the only time.
