    • NOV 18th filing is an update to the earlier document. It looks to me like Souter cock-blocked it then gave the option for the federal election commission to ignore any further filings.

About the Snopes thing though I honestly expected better than what was listed as proof from them. As far as him being a Muslim That was Hillarys' people doing that not the republicans. I believe most republicans don't care that much about religion of their candidates. I hear a lot of talk about how we're supposed to think but honestly it doesn't matter not to any that I know anyway. I wouldn't care if he was a Muslim or what color he is. Its all about philosophy. Is He a socialist? Is it ok to steal from the rich and give to the poor? What about the poor who become rich? are they to be punished for success? personal responsibility for your successes and failures. Thats what matters.

The original suit filed by Berg brought up a lot of interesting questions. I'd like to know the answers.
My big fear here is that they're true and he is ineligible. Then we're stuck with president Biden and Vice president Pelosi. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

I hope he does a good job running the country and doesn't screw us farther than we already have been by Clinton and Bush. I really do. If he does well I'd consider voting for him next time.

The philosophy I've seen so far says different though. We'll see.

That's not possible. The Electro College has not voted yet and that's one reason for the Dec 1 deadline. If he is disqualified, then the only legal guy they can vote for is McCain. It will be a one horse race...

          • Supreme Court

Went to the Supreme Court website and typed in the Docket No. 08-570 and there was nothing listed. Hmmm.

Two thing about Obama disturb me. The first was his refence to the rural people clinging to their God and their guns. Believe that was said in Pennsylvania. The other was his focus on the redistribution of wealth, something Karl Marx felt that was one of the keys to his society. Seems to be a common thread with socialism.

              • I also heard the internet rumor questioning Senator (President Elect) Obama's citizenship, I figured if there was any real truth to it, a certain senator from New York would have found out and dropped that particular bomb at the national convention back in June. That said, I don't doubt that there are people more influential than I that are questioning it in a documented legal manner, and I am also certain that the high court is looking into it, but I sincerely doubt if anything substantial will come of it. As far as I am concerned, the deed is done, I believe that President elect was selling Socialism, and I believe that we the people bought it hook line and sinker. However, I doubt that our future President will get too Marxist or he will likely get the same thing that former President Clinton got after duplicating George H. W. Bush's massive tax increase on the American people.....a Republican controlled Congress. That is likely all I really wish to contribute to this fine, truly well mannered political debate. • Taxes redistribute wealth. Nothing new there. Biggest example: Social Security. Obama's top picks, so far, are very much from the center of the political spectrum. His 3 appearances this week have helped the stock market rebound by around 1,100 points. He's even keeping Gates in as Sec of Defense, one of Bush's appointees, proving he will reach across political lines for solutions. He encouraged Democrats to let Lieberman keep his Homeland Security chairmanship, not exactly a popular move in the Democrat party.

By the way, if you have not seen it, you should read George Will's latest editorial in this week's Newsweek. I don't agree with all of it, but he begin the article by saying "It is futile, but not pointless, to note that the federal government's blizzard of bailouts is unconstitutional." He goes on from there to discuss the fact that Paulson has, in effect, become a "...fourth branch of government."

All the yelling about creeping socialism, and what Obama's philosophy is, neglects the fact that the current Republican administration is the most Socialist ever seen. Rather than criticize Obama for what he might do, what about yelling about what is happening as we speak? Will goes on to say "Government has plunged into allocating wealth and opportunity even though proper prices for important assets cannot be known because markets are not functioning." The important part is the first 6 words of that statement.

Sour grapes. I hear it from frustrated Republicans everywhere. Get over it. Obama may not have a successful presidency; he is inheriting 2 wars, an economy in meltdown, and a disaster in foreign policy. Its a big hill to climb.

                    • Very true sir, I have not been terribly pleased with the decisions made and the policies haded down by the current administration, or the previous, or the one before that. I see a general drift towards socialism in our federal government, not in just the last few years, but the last two decades or so. at times the drift was slower than at other times, but nonetheless, I see a solid drift to the left. I have no sour grapes, I don't wish to indicate otherwise.. Did I vote for President - elect Obama? no, do I want him to fail miserably? no I hope he makes all the right decisions and the country get better and stronger. I truly wish him a very successful Presidency. see now I've gone and done it! I was just going to read this thread, not post anymore of my inane babblings, let those smarter than I am figure out if all is going to be well and we're all going to be happy and life will be wonderful again. oh well, so much for the best laid plans of mice and men. have a nice day and ride safe

                      • Not a Democrat

I must admit, I did not vote for Obama nor am I as far left as Jerry, but I am nevertheless impressed with what I see so far. If he really does do what he promises, I will eventually wish I had voted for him. So far I am leaning far more to the left than ever before. I know for sure that depending on the government to do anything right is really a pipe dream. The first thing they need to know is that trickle down doesn't work and that trickle up is the only answer that will work. Giving money to big corp's only makes them richer and doesn't fix the problem. They just have a big party and laugh at how easy the government is to fool.

                        • Socialism

We got the president that the media wanted us to have, plain and simple. An editor from the New York Times stated that very idea many years ago. At that time he was told to sit down and shut up. Guess the idea was ahead of it's time. The truth of the matter is people are pretty trusting of what they read even if the polls say they don't trust the news peple. History isn't being taught in our school very well these days. My kids don't know who Karl Marx is, let alone Lenin, Mao and Stalin. They believe Columbus was a criminal. The problem is those who forget the past are bond to repeat the mistakes. If anyone out there really believes the politicans give a damn about anyone but their lobbiests, they are deluding themselves. I'm going to do like a whole lot of others and buy me one of those black rifles while I can.

                            • nor am I as far left as Jerry
Well. I don't consider myself that far left, as I read George Will (and other conservative pundits) and like a lot of what Ron Paul had to say. Matter of fact, I hope Obama gets together with Paul to get Paul's input on monetary policy.

Having said that, I do think the nation will be better served by governing from a middle ground. This is, no doubt, left of the current administration, but I don't think it is left of mainstream opinion.

Politics has its cycles, just as anything else. After all, we have a Constitution that enshrined slavery, counting slaves as 3/5 of a person for calculating representation in the House. Political opinion does change over time.

I am hopeful, but not confident, that some basic assumptions which have brought us to this condition will be changed by Obama. One, that we can shape the rest of the world in our image by using military force. There are limits to what the military can deliver. Two, that cheap and easy credit is a right. Like anything else worth having, you have put some work into it.

I don't ask for much. For the most part I would like to government to leave me alone and take care of the things it was formed to do: defend the country and promote the general welfare of its citizens. At present it can do neither. Perhaps, and just perhaps, the government will do a better job under Obama and the Democrats than it has under Bush and the Republicans. It certainly can't do worse.

Trust me.. it can always be worse.

It's pretty plain and obvious who you're supporting, Jerry, but I think you've been preaching to the wrong choir. If you look at the poll numbers, you'll see that in this forum.. you are the minority in your opinion.

Sure we all hope for better things in the future, but there isn't a single cell in my body that trusts Obama. Every fiber in my being feels this way. So yeah... if there's still a hope that he is found inelligible, I'm going to hope. Do I think it will do any good? No. Like it or not, I believe he'll be the next president. But all your talking isn't going to convince me he's the best choice, and there's no way anybody on here is going to convince you to change your decision.

So what's worse.. a sorry loser, or a gloating winner?
