"Supreme court ruling on Obama's eligibility for presidency"
Supreme Court Of The United States (SCOTUS) Justice David Souter has agreed that a review of the federal lawsuit filed by attorney Phil Berg against Barack Hussein Obama II, et al., which was subsequently dismissed for lack of standing is warranted. SCOTUS Docket No. 08-570 contains the details.
A review of that docket and the Rule 10 of the Supreme Court makes abundantly clear that Justice Souter's granting of a review on the Writ of Certiorari is not a right entitled to citizen Phil Berg, but rather is a matter of judicial discretion based upon a compelling reason. That compelling reason is the Constitutional requirement that "No person except a natural born citizen ... shall be eligible to the office of President..."
What this means is that on or before 1 DECEMBER 2008 Barack Hussein Obama II must respond to the writ of certiorari, and since the Berg v Obama case hinged primarily on the question of Obama's place of birth, it is almost inconceivable that Barack Obama will thumb his nose at the Justices of the Supreme Court and he is absolutely compelled to provide a vault copy his original birth certificate.
Another very salient fact to consider at this time is that, despite all of the pronouncements of the print and broadcast media, Barack Obama is not yet the President-elect of the United States. Barack Obama can only become the President-elect after the Electoral College convenes on 15 DECEMBER 2008 in their respective state capitals around the nation and casts their votes to elect the President and the Vice President. As you can see this election day occurs two weeks after the required response to the Supreme Court granted Writ of Certiorari.
The bottom line is this: the presidential election of 2008 remains an ongoing process, the outcome of which remains undetermined, and all talk about a potential Constitutional crisis in the United States are at least 36 days premature.
The inevitable constitutional crisis regarding President-elect Obama, of course, revolves around his inability (or unwillingness) to produce an authentic Hawaiian birth certificate with the raised certificate stamp that the Federal Elections Commission can independently verify.
Here are some of the unanswered issues hanging over the head of President-elect Barack Obama and the question of his American citizenship:
« The allegation that Obama was born in Kenya to parents unable to automatically grant him American citizenship;
« The allegation that Obama was made a citizen of Indonesia as a child and that he retained foreign citizenship into adulthood without recording an oath of allegiance to regain any theoretical American citizenship;
« The allegation that Obama's birth certificate was a forgery and that he may not be an eligible, natural-born citizen;
« The allegation that Obama was not born an American citizen; lost any hypothetical American citizenship he had as a child; that Obama may not now be an American citizen and even if he is, may hold dual citizenships with other countries. If any, much less all, of these allegations are true, the suit claims, Obama cannot constitutionally serve as president.
« The allegations that "Obama's grandmother on his father's side, half brother and half sister claim Obama was born in Kenya," the suit states." Reports reflect Obama's mother went to Kenya during her pregnancy; however, she was prevented from boarding a flight from Kenya to Hawaii at her late stage of pregnancy, which apparently was a normal restriction to avoid births during a flight. Stanley Ann Dunham (Obama) gave birth to Obama in Kenya, after which she flew to Hawaii and registered Obama's birth."
« The claim could not be verified by inquiries to Hawaiian hospitals, since state law bars the hospitals from releasing medical records to the public.
Even if Obama produced authenticated proof of his birth in Hawaii, however, the suit claims that the U.S. Nationality Act of 1940 provided that minors lose their American citizenship when their parents expatriate. Since Obama's mother married an Indonesian citizen and moved to Indonesia, the suit claims, she forfeited both her and Barack's American citizenship.

Obama can't provide a copy of his birth certificate. It was stolen by aliens when he was abducted for medical experiments. The aliens would give it back, but they lost it on the grassy knoll while they were killing Kennedy....

Good grief. I've never heard so many sore loosers in my life.
Obama can't be any worse than G. W. Bush. History will tell. The election was more anti-Republican than it was pro-Obama, for good reason. The Republicans had their time, 8 yeas of Bush plus 10 years of House and Senate control under Clinton and Bush. If you like where this country is, (foreign policy disasters, crumbling economy, rising unemployment, $700+ Billion-dollar bailouts) then you voted Republican and are now hounding Obama before he even takes office. If you don't like the path the country has taken under Republican rule, then you voted Democrat and are hoping that Obama may be able to repair some of the damage caused by the Republicans. Its not rocket science; it was a choice of governing philosophies. Not a great choice, mind you, but a choice never the less.
Obama's appointments so far are very centrist and have been received pretty well by conservatives as well as liberals. If Obama can govern from the center he will do OK. Bush governed from the right, and often the far right. The Republicans lost because this approach didn't work; McCain, who moved somewhat to the center, couldn't sell his credentials as a centrist candidate. His choice of a far-right running mate helped motivate the base but lost the independents and moderates who might have otherwise swung the results to the Republican side.
The country has made bad decisions before; thats how GW came to the White House in the first place. One hopes Obama's win can correct that mistake.

It would be hard to come from the center when you are bringing the clinton clan and all old cronies from that admin.
And you are right ,time will tell.And I dont want to hear any complaining.lol
BTW-your boy aint even in office yet and hes already working on turning our pockets inside out.
I tried doing a search for an article about the court decision. Couldn't find one. Looks like they were given the option of responding in the briefings I read.
Its interesting to find out exactly how this stuff works. If Obama is found to be ineligible Biden will get the Electoral votes so administratively there is no difference in the election.
This will come to fruition in the end. If Obama is ineligible he will be removed from office and we'll have president Biden. Possibly the dumbest politician in the United States. Of all the people running I liked him the least.

Do you want it done right or do you want me to do it?
This tired old rumor was discredited months ago. Obama's birth certificate has been attested to by the State of Hawaii and has been available for viewing on the web for months. This whole "controversy" is hogwash.
The election is past. The votes have been counted. Get over it. We'll all get a chance to vote for Sarah Palin in four years.
My wife is pretty excited about this whole situation. Like Obama, she is mixed race, born in Hawaii. She thinks its about time her people, and their spirit of aloha, got to run the place.

Seems to me the $700 Billion + bailout, largely (not entirely) the doing of the Republican control of the tax and regulation code is already doing that.
Not to mention gas at over $4.00 per gallon. It will come again.
Do you happen to know who the largest stockholder of Citi Group is? A rich Saudi.
Prince Walid bin Talal of Saudi Arabia, the biggest shareholder of Citigroup Inc., bought $500 million of its stock, saying the shares are ''very tempting'' after losing 27 percent of their value this year.
Now we get to spend another 25 billion of taxpayer dollars to bail out a company who's major stockholder is one of the world's richest men:
Prince Al-Walid bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud is a member of the Saudi Royal Family, and an entrepreneur and international investor. He has amassed his fortune through investments in real estate and the stock market. As of 2007, his net worth is estimated at US$29.5 billion, according to the Arabian Business rich list published December 2, 2007. He is ranked by Forbes as the 20th richest person in the world, and is the second richest man in royalty next to the Sultan of Brunei.
Of course the Bush family knows the Saudi royal family, as both are in the oil business. Nothing like helping your friends in their time of need! And you talk about Obama going to give away the farm. You really should pay attention to what is going on in Washington at this moment, under the Bush (Republican) administration.
Thats not a bad deal...invest $500 million and get the benefit of a $25 billlion taxpayer-funded bailout. Enough to warm the hearts of any Republican.

I guess if you invested 500 million you would have the same benefit.But just like me I'm guessing you dont have 500 million either.
I really dont think the intent is to make a foreigner rich,I figure the think the intent is to keep the American economy from completely tanking.I dont personally believe it will work,but apparently the American taxpayers opinion isnt really valued by its own government anymore(conservative OR liberal).
It is amusing to see people have this grandios idea that Obama is some messiah that will magically fix everything.I even saw yeterday that some people are calling for Bush to step aside so Obama can take over immediately.It looks to me like Bush and Obama have a very similar point of view on the economy.They both believe that giving money to banks, car companies and any major enterprise that is heading towards insolvency is going to change those companies into sound businesses and make this easier on us.Well what happens if that dont work.
I dont claim to be an expert on politics but I know I would rather not live in a completely socialist society.And that is what we will have if the government ends up owning and running private business,healthcare,and everything else it thinks it needs to take over.
Barack Obama criticized the Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision today striking down the use of the death penalty in cases of child rape.
Barack Obama speaks with reporters during a news conference in Chicago Wednesday. (AP)
“I disagree with the decision. I have said repeatedly that I think that the death penalty should be applied in very narrow circumstances for the most egregious of crimes,” Obama told reporters at a press conference in Chicago.
The expected Democratic nominee said he believed the rape of a child “is a heinous crime” that fits the circumstance, siding with the four conservative justices who sit on the court, Chief Justice John Roberts, and Justices Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia, and Clarence Thomas.
Whats up with that?
Obama said in the debate the Thomas was the least qualified guy in the court now he's going against the liberal agenda he's been fighting for so long?
wonder if he's setting up a defense for prejudice. Hmm.

What I like best about this site is that the sources for its claims are listed at the end of the article. These can be used as an investigative starting point for those who desire more information.
