Lots of changes made, paint, seat, exhaust, pod filters, and more, but most folks are shocked to learn its 32 years old. So I give it a not spec- very good condition.

        Yup...

It looks like it's been to hell and back.

        sidecovers? what a those?

spec.??? What's that? you mean parts are still available?
hmm, i've come up with a few presidential solutions for things.
1979 XS1100SF Special.78 E motor/carbs, Jardine 4-2 exhaust, XS Green coils, Corbin seat, S.S. Brake lines, Hard cases, Heated grips.

2012 FJR1300 Gen 2. Heli bar risers, R-gaza crash bars, mccruise cruise control.

(2)2008 WR250R. Because kids outgrew others.

        2007 Suzuki V-Strom 1000. (Just added 2024) pre-crashed.

1975 Kawasaki S1 250. My first bike. Still have it. NO I'm not selling it!!

Most bike problems are caused by a loose nut connecting the handlebars and the seat!!

There is no "My Bike Is An Abomination" category...
82 XJ11..... PO was a tool... spray painted with flat black the fenders, tank, and exaust... fenders chipping, and chrome is shining through... tank is fading and running... and exaust is bubbled, and chipped.... also he laid it down at 80km/h... drunk... without a liscence... on gravel
There are only two types of bikers...
those that have layed it down, and
those that have not layed it down...YET!

You might check the one for your model, there are three surveys, one for the 78-9 bikes, one for 80-1's and one for the 82's. If I were to try and put the three into a category, it would be like generations for camaro's and mustangs, with the 78-9's being first gen, and 80-1's being second and 82's being the third generation, which went to like 84 outside the U.S.

                  Update on Monster's condition

In the many months that have passed, I have put Monster to rights and she is running strong and true. The running rich problem turned out to to be a leaking flot valve that would only leak when running and fortunatly I made that discovery before I went noodling around with jettings and other leaning adjustments. Color tuning went from dark brown to a pleasing tan. She constantly turns in 44 mpg's and last week gave me a 47 mpg tank. Every time I fire her up for a ride, my insides go WOW!!!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"

                    • Not spec because I removed full dress stuff and replaced headlight with customed bracket and round headlight. Absolutely mint except for cracked seat pan & duct taped seat, peeling clearcoat with faded paint, dull alum. broken speedo, etc. Hey it has taken years to age the bike to just the perfect stage of disrepair. When I need a change I don't repaint, I just change the color of the duct tape on the seat.

Well I can't call him spec anymore, just put on the fork brace, auto cct and fuel filters. Other than that though, it's the same as I bought it off the showroom floor in 79. Condition? I say mint.
