I have two XS 1100 with 80.000 and the other with 9.000 miles
I have four XS 1100 Specials and they are each running about 25,000 miles. Three of them have the fairing with two Windjammer and one with the Yamaha.

            1979 XS1100 F Far from Mint

Looks Ratty and the seat is God Awful ugly but it's a major kick in the ass to ride. Need a few carb parts to get it running right and just scored a freerear tire to replace the scary smooth Dunlop it probably came with. New meat is a Pirelli 120 70 ZR17

                Don't fix'it if it ain't broke!!

Not a spec bike and in less the very good condition, NOW!!

                '79 XS1100 Special

Came back from Iraq, thought I'd take some corrosion off from the year and a half sitting under cover , and change the tires. The more I dig the more I find.
Tonight I ordered steering head bearings 'cause they too are corroded and ratcheting. Before I started it was running nice as it has for the past dozen years.

Next time instead of taking parts off to powder coat maybe just overspraying the rust would be easier!!!!

Should be up and running again soon though. Grrrrrr!!!!

                      Ehaust

So why did you take of the original exhaust? Do you still have it?

I wish I still had the original exhaust but unfortunately, they were shot. This bike spent many years under the carport which I think is probably worse than anything. I now keep it in a controlled enviroment.

                          Happy Christmas to me!

The condition is improving. Neatish paint now and I'll get some photos on on the Christmas Holidays
