  • Got my seat done

Here is a side shot - I'm adding more to my build thread but I like the saddle brown ultraleather alot better than the black vinyl stock cover - this blends...

I cut a little off the pan to fit the tank better, mounted a bar to fit the frame hole, drilled the fender and bolted it down. The seat will flex to fit but hold it down with your hand as you tighten the bolt. The fender will bend and mark if you're not careful. Some of the harley seats like this one have threaded holes that you can anchor with a screw and some u brackets around the cross bar on the frame. It's really odd how they seem to fall right at the spot the needed to.

Yep, I sure hope so, lol. I've done the side covers and bags already, kinda like the black with the Ford blue. Here's what she used to look like, 2 different reds and dk. blue, yuk...

          • Hi Garth, He's a Mastiff cross wolfhound cross bull cross, cross, cross, cross etc. Not a huge fella compared to the pure mastiffs but he's got an awesome temperament which makes it that much more enjoyable to have him around. He's just part of the family. Biggest hassle was modifying the doggy door to accomadate him as he grew to the point where just the size of the door alone would be a deterrent for would be thieves.
Clean up isn't a problem with him at all as he's got 17 acres to run around on and he's very discreet when doing the business and bolts off down the back paddock when the need arises.

My bike has the XS motor but can't really call it XS11
(or at least it still looks like the XS motor)
it has about 50% of the frame left from the XS bike

                      • Marty,

I looked today and I can't find any ID on the bags. My Aunt got em for me when I first got the bike. They are some kind of good fake leather that really retains their shape. I'll see if she remembers.

Got a pic of ur SG?

Like the way they are mounted under the seat.

                            • Take care, a friend of mine had bags like that on a Virago some years ago. Took his wife on a trip, had their clothes and things in the bags, a couple day trip. Halfway into a five hour ride the bags caught fire and burned all their stuff. Luckily neither of them got burned or hurt.

                              • Bags

Yeah, I was concerned about how close they were too. I have kept an eye on em though and have had several long rides with no problems. They connect in the middle under the seat. I had to cut two holes for the seat attach brackets and bolts. My right hand seat atach bolt is stripped so I have 5 washers on that side. Tighten left only. Has anyone else done the quick release mod? That looks sweet and would actually be hidden on mine by the bags. Always thought needing the 14mm to take the seat off sucked.
