  • Nice ride...

I'm also looking into something more contoured on the seat department. I'm on a 79 xs1100 and the "flat" seat doesn't agree with my curvy butt.

I love the Maxim look, and as soon as I can duplicate it on my XS without too much trouble, I'll have the Maxim-style tank and seat for my XS...truly a custom ride...

    • After 3 months of work I got the bike running!
Bought it 3/25/07, running by 6/23/07.
Only a couple of things left to complete the restore job...
      New paint
      Fork seals
      Steering bearings
      stereo
fairing liner (the outer edge of the fairing)

Thanks to prometheus578, the steering bearings and fork seals will be repaired next Saturday! He has the tools and know-how, I have the parts and bike!

        • Crusin Ram,

Did your fairing come with the wood overlay or did you make that? That looks very nice!
Looks like you have the same fairing and side cargo boxes as mine does.

Came with the wood overlay- don't hate me now- I sold that whole set up and put it on a KZ1000 locally.

However- the bike will have a new incarnation as a nekkid bobberish thing

              • Grey,
I will have to look at the coils, but I think they are stock.

And thank you. She still is not as pretty as she could be with the paint issue, but that is for next year or when I have extra money!

And yes, I put all the gear back on it. Still teacking down the lights not working on the trunk, not a really important issue, but bothers me none the less.

Crus, thanks for reply. I think I figured out a way to add the wood panels. If I do, I will post it.

get this...62000 USD is what Bikez.com says it's worth with normal wear and no repair need assumed.

I like that number and if one takes into account what parts cost and what labor at a shop would cost to refurb one of these GREAT bikes that number makes more sense.
