Plan a route away from the ridiculousness. Highway 2 up north has some great stuff and drop down through Yellowstone.
Plan a southern rout on the way home.

      Merry Christmas fellows!

Hope all is well for the crew of usuals and newbies that are going to give the Colorado rally try this summer!

With that said, there are just a few of the usual suspects that I know I can count on at this point. Last year‘s rally was the largest of the three I have hosted with almost 20 bikes. We would have exceeded that mark except for the life circumstances that kept a number of the usuals away.

All the guys who have attended know what they’re in for and it is going to be a fantastic time had by all!

It would be REALLY helpful for guys to raise a hand and let me know you are intending on attending the Rally. I plan on T-shirts again, more campsite barbecues in the evening, and of course great roads.

July 12-16, 2018 Buena Vista Colorado area.

Take care and please post up when you can I really appreciate it in advance.

                      Hey guys,
As far as I know at this point, Bohn & I intend to be there...

We will need motel accomodations, as usual.

Hey Bob, “There” is going to be the Buena Vista area. If Cottonwood Pass is fully paved by rally time, that will be so sweet! Otherwise the riding is no less spectacular. We won’t have the wide-open high-speed riding like we did in Kremmling last year on day one, that was a treat.

However, we are gathering on Thursday for a day earlier start than the past three years. I think that will lend to an air of relaxing socializing and potentially more riding.

The KOA I am calling on Jan 1st (first day they will take reservations for 2018 and tell me their prices) is at the Junction of Hwy 285 and Hwy 24 in Johnson Village, just south of Buena Vista. They also have cabins might be worth looking into and making a call on January 1 as well.

Actually, for a day group ride, and the BEST for scenic mountain views out of Buena Vista area would be north on Colo.24 to Leadville(town is 10,000ft. elev.) for a bit early lunch. Then back south to the famous Hiway 82which turns west just before Granite,Co. Then ride to the top of Independence Pass for some great views and pics. If one chose, they could keep traveling west down other side of Independace Pass to Aspen, which is another 30min. ride. JAT folks, as this all IS my backyard and have traveled ALL these hiways MANY a time on two wheels, four wheels, ten wheels.... and 18wheels. BTW, Buena Vista has 3 good eateries, one great for breakfast and two great for dinner. Leadville has a few good eateries for lunch. And, if one chose, a WAY good eatery and way reasonable prices at the Hickory House in Aspen. Anyways, just throwin' that all out there for thought for all you riders.

BTW, for riding from Buena Vista to Leadville, one can view the largest number of '14ers'(14,000ft+ elev.) on this continent, mostly grouped for easy visibility from hiway 24.

Leadville from Buena Vista almost looks like a dead end unless.... up north on the road to Frisco/Dillon Reservior, then back down south on CO-9 to Buena there is a great pit stop:
