    It's just metal!

Ed, I'm glad I got to schmooze in Santa Cruz for a while helping you get your bike running but I was more concerned about the owner than the bike -- warranty schmarranty!

I'm really glad you two made the rally so just say hello to Gypsy and the lovely cellist Grace for me and don't be puttin' any crazy notions in these fellers' noggins!

    XS11 Sainthood?

I really should have posted this before my last post.
DiverRay almost didn’t make it because he and Scot spent so much time working on my bike that he didn’t have the time to work on his own. These guys performed a tranny/clutch transplant from a crashed hot rod XS1185 with only 25,000 miles on it. I now have a very solid slip free clutch and a fully functional tranny with the bevel gear fix. With the time and parts that these guys put into it, if I had gotten the work done at a commercial shop the bill would have far and away exceeded the value of the bike.
The words of Wayne and Garth (Saturday Night Live,) kept running through my mind: I’M NOT WORTHY, I’M NOT WORTHY!!! I finally had to consider that these guys aren’t so much concerned with the owner of the bike as they are with keeping these old bikes running: the owner has only to be truly appreciative of these bikes.
I would have been so bummed out if Ray couldn’t make the rally that I absolutely could not have enjoyed myself and probably would not have attended the Rally myself.
I propose an additional level above Guru: that being XS11 Saint. Ray and Scott would surely qualify!
On a more serious note, catch my thread “The warranty has expired on my body!”
    Special Ed

Great pictures Ray! It makes me feel less guilty about not taking pictures myself! I decided early on that having SWMBO, AKA Gypsy along that we would just come along for the ride.
What a wonderful Rally! 17 bikes! In addition to re-connecting with old acquaintances’, we met some great new riders, some whom I felt like could develop into real friendships if we lived close enough together: GarthXS, Restorganize and Psycoreefer come quickly to mind.
Our trip up PCH through Big Sur was pretty much a waste. It was foggy and all we could see was about 300 feet on any side. As a group, we were really lucky that we were so blessed with the idyllic weather we had.

    DiverRay,
Very nice pictures! Looks like a terrific place to cruise.
Did you come across many riders? That one shot of the campground or day use or whatever it was right on the beach must really get a workout.

Great pictures, Ray, the ocean just pops into view on that road.

Judson, I'm glad you made it this year. We'll have to go for some local rides now that there's someone closer than two hours away from me!

Hey now! A plumber?! Methinks me should start exercising a bit because I'm beginning to resemble a beached seal but a plumber is just totally over-the-top! Besides, I don't drink enough beer to be a plumber.

Apparently, just doing Deadercise along with the newly-arrived Grateful Dead Road Trips Vol. 3 No. 3 that I got for my birthday won't do it but it sure makes working on the bike a lot more fun!

Well, the photo's I've uploaded can be seen at: http://rjmatteis.com/images/2010_CenCal/01.jpg . Just increment the 01.jpg up one number at a time! The first five or six are 3phase and I working on Special Ed's bike. Notice the way we have the steed tied too the rafters, and are into the guts!!
The rest of the pictures, from about 07 on, are of the rally. I just uploaded what I thought are the best shots. If you would like to look through ALL of the pictures, send me a line and I'll upload them all for you. They are from 2 to 4MB PER PICTURE, so I didn't try to "post" them.

Wow, well I really enjoyed meeting everyone and getting a good ride in on Saturday. I am fortunate that I was out here and able to get to the rally. What a great group of people. Thanks for all the wonderful memories. I hope to see you next year.

    Right on, Garth, thanks!

FWIW that was the gas station in Thousand Oaks, not Moorpark.
