OK, kids, just got back from my preview of the XSEast ’09 routes, aka ‘The Mis-guided Tour’.

Logged just shy of 900 miles. First the bad news….I had to come back to NYC today. That’s all the bad news, the rest is ALL GOOD. The hotel is great, pool, sauna are very relaxing, hot tub is small, but it’s there. Hotel serves free continental breakfast (juice, coffee, donuts, cereal, toast, yogurt) from 6a-10a and if you want something more substantial, there is a diner a short walk away. The roads are gorgeous, the scenery made it hard to keep my eyes on the road. Good thing I was on four wheels. I’ll let the pics tell that story.

For Saturday night dinner, we have a very reasonably priced restaurant called “99” less than ½ mile from the hotel. I sampled the food and drink Sat night (man, this is hard work) and I am very pleased, and I think you all will be too. Good sized portions and excellent quality. Nice people, too.

I worked out a choice of three mains, Sirloin tips, Roast Turkey (with trimmings), or Salmon. Salad to start and ice cream & strawberries for dessert.

Sitting down? Pricing for this is $15 per person. Really sitting down? – gratuity is included! I’ve reserved for 40 people, but I’ll have to confirm the real number a couple of weeks in advance of our arrival. I’ll post a thread for that.

Ok, back to the routes. First, many thanks to Marty for sketching these out. They were as close to perfect as they could be. The winners are #1 and #3. I only need to make slight changes to each to avoid some traffic and include some sightseeing and I’ll have that mapped out by the end of the month, then I’ll post it for all to see. Meanwhile, these pics may help melt the winter blues. I'll leave you with these observations:

    - I've never seen a pay toilet at a gas station, this one is off the stop list!
    - See if you can find Prom the Action Hero!
    - No wiener should ever have that much wood in it. Ever.
    - If I ever decide to change carreers....naaah.

    See you in May!

Ben, the pleasure was all mine. Wait till you see thee Mohawk Trail (that's route 2 with the dangerous curves) and the Molly Stark Trail has some views that will take your breath away! Try as I might, no one could explain to me who Molly was, or why her trail is so long, but she must have been a popular gal!

OK we are back to normal - talking beer and curvy roads. If Mitch brings Alpine the line forms behind me!

Thanks Randy for doing all that dirty work....

The winners are #1 and #3. Randy and I will huddle up and make the small corrections, then label them Saturday and Sunday.

                                Randy:
Thanks for the great report. Looks like we're in for some great rides. The coin toilet cracked me up. The first time I saw a sign at a station that said "Free Air!", I knew we were in trouble.
