This looks very doable! Would you mind possibly 2 or 3 more? I live in southern Rhode Island, just off I-95, and I'll see if Russ Neal (rneal55555 here) wants to come along. He lives in North Stonington, CT. I bought the Old Coot from him. We could probably meet you folks at the restaurant.
Word of warning on the restaurant, parking lot can be tricky and small, Mystic on a Saturday may be very crowded.
There is a Mystic Pizza II just down the road from Russ's place, both of which are just down the road from Foxwoods Casino. Much easier to get to, better parking, so on and so forth. Just an option to consider.
In the matters of submarines, there is a Russian submarine in Providence, RI that's open to the public. I believe it was used in some movie with Harrison Ford. I can take you there, but it's a 50-mile ride up I-95 into Providence.
If the weather is nice that area will be jammed. We parked on the street to the left. It has a sharp up-hill part but we managed to catch a car just leaving.

Another thing of note is 12:00 saturday for lunch. 3/4 of New England eats at 8 am, 12 pm, and 5 pm religiously, like a bunch of lemmings or a herd of cattle responding to the dinner bell. Eating outside of those times gets much better and faster service, as well as places to park and tables to sit at.
You local guys probably know better tha anyone, so what time of day do you suggest for lunch? We have some time to work this out, but don't wait too long, as I need to make a ferry reservation!
If it were me, the choice would be to make it either 11:00/11:30 or 1:00/1:30. Since I'm already in the area, the time wouldn't matter to me, so you'll have to make plans accordingly. I personally opt for 1:30 as the heat and humidity of the day is starting, so it would be a nice relief.
BTW, that Russian sub I mentioned earlier....well, I just found out tonight that it apparently sunk 15 months ago in a storm and they are working on raising it now. Soooo, it's not open, obviously!
Man I need to check in here more often, Stuff like this going on in my back yard and I could have missed it.
Thanks Bobe for the email letting me know.
I'm down in Yorktown the week of the 4th but should be coming home on Friday there's a chance I'll get hung up and not be able to leave until Sat but as long as those guys down there haven't forgotten what a missile looks like they should be able to finish what they have to do in time for me to finish my part by Thurs so I can head north on Fri. So the bottom line is I'm a 95% sure I can be there and will work 110% to make it happen.
As far as what time to eat etc I think it really depends on the ferry schedule. If we get to the restaurant at noon and they can't seat us for a long period of time we could always just take a scenic ride out to Mystic Pizza 2, it's only about 20 minutes there taking the long way.
After that depending where you wanna go and how much time you have to spend we can get you there via the back roads.
The Nautilus is free so that's a plus and you'd have your own expert tout guide. There's an chance depending on who is in port that we could maybe get a tour on a operational submarine at the base I'd have to make some calls and see It'll take some advance planning but is probably doable, no promises though.
The casino could be free or even a money maker for some but I usually tell people to take a good look at that place and ask yourself how they paid for it before you make that investment.

It was my pleasure! I was worried you had missed it though....

That's what I love about this guy, he always comes up with great alternative solutions!

In case you folks didn't know, submarines and the Navy are/were Russ's life! We'd be in great hands!

And if you STILL didn't believe it, you can go inside and see (and hear) the huge money-sucking action in real life!

I would opt for 11:00 / 11:30 that would leave more time for eating/riding around. The ferry schedule is every hour or so, so I'll be there at 11:00 / 11:30 at Mystic Pizza #1, if we decide to go up to Mystic Pizza #2, that works, we'll figure it out then.
Randy, got the message.
Guys, so what are the addresses of these places?
I need to plot this out and figure my fuel and stops, departure time, etc. I have to present a well-thought-out and practical plan to his Lordship.
I also need to figure out if he's is even going to let me go. He's still very protective of me with the bike. I'm a little old to be grounded, but he's managing to do it. I will practice every night after work all week and show him the results to see if I'm off 'restriction'. If I can just get my low speed manuvers down, I think he'll be satisfied.
It's kind of nice in a way. At least I know he's not looking for an easy way out! LOL!!
I have a huge project at work that is set to bear fruit(or, GULP!, not)this Saturday. This would be a great way to blow off all the stress I've been under with this project.
Keep your fingers crossed for me!! This sounds like such a good time, and I don't want to miss it.
I'll let you all know!
