    Ahhh, the XSives!!

What a wonderful group-so dedicated, so willing to help, so self-sacrificing!
I feel so 'wanted'! How lovely!
And to top it all off, there's PIZZA involved.
    Life IS good!!

Seriously though...you guys are the best!

I think the reason John is hesitating with this is because HE doesn't want to go that far. Not because of me. That's a long ride for him on that Badlander seat.

          Hey Carolyn,

Firstly , I'd be happy to provide escort service for you once you're down in this area! Tell John to MAN UP, 135 miles isn't THAT far (of course, I'm used to a Venture....)

          Secondly, two ways to go....

          1) I-495 to I-95 to I-295 to I-95....waste of time and congested....

          2) I-495 to I-395....usually a MUCH quieter route, except for the Worcester area, but it isn't as bad as runinng through Little Rhody!

If you go the first way, I can meet you at the truck stop at Exit 5A off I-95, we can then go to Russ's place the back way, grab him and Cathy, then go to Mystic from there....

If you go the second way, I can meet you at Exit 86 off I-395 (CT-201, Hopeville Pond State Park). There is a carpool parking lot there, I can then escort you and John to Russ's another back way, so on and so forth....

While the truck stop is only about 5 miles from my place, the second route is a much better way to go for you folks! It would be my pleasure to provide the two of you escort service, providing you don't mind riding with a big fat guy on an old beat-up XS!

This is great, it's turning into a 'mini-rally', or just a long-range pizza run. Ben, if you're still planning on coming, I've ditched the ferry route, I'm going up 95 off the Throgs Neck. Don't know if that makes a difference to you, but let me know your plan and we can ride up together.

Randy would love to join you and ride up together...let me check my routes...95 is prolly the fastest way but not always the safest...but in company with others makes it a bit better...I'll let you know after i come back from Portsmouth...I could still come up on my ST right? If all else fails...I'd love tp see that sub in Groton too..

Ben, you don't really have to ask that do you? Let me know.

Be aware that 95 is not only a major East/West route it is also a main shoreline route for weekend beach going people in CT. In addition, it carries the Casino traffic from NY & southern CT to 395 in New London. 95 is pretty much two lanes from the CT river bridge to the New London/Groton bridge. If you're early enough you should be OK but I would consider the ferry as a way back.

You know I'll have to think alittle more abt this...I really dislike the I-95 corridor....it is crowded and fast and its slab roads which could be in less than ideal shape....going up early in the a.m. is prolly the best but coming home perhaps a ferry would be an excellent way to go....I have been on these roads yrs ago in a cage and i did not like driving it...that was back in the 70's...nowadays its prolly worse. The areas I have to ride thru to get to Mystic are not my ideal places to ride.Granted there is more to this than just the ride...but it just seems to me that I would just rather avoid the NYC and LI and I95 thru CT...
If I do this in a single day i am looking at close to a 500 miles....perhaps more...

Well that leaves going thru PA to NY and down from MA.
