  • "It has me at 118 mph at one point on the trip to Dubuque..."

Huh? That 45 mile trip we did in 28 minutes??? I don't recall that, I wasn't even there, I was at my cousin Gino's in NJ, I was stuck in 3rd gear....

Hey the Venture has a 125 speedo wasn't even close... I swear...

Hey Bob, I am thinking there is more ad-Venture in your future...

[ Just git well soon. Our prayers are with you.

      Me too!
Bob, SO Sorry to learn of your delayed return and ...
As was told to me, after an unXSpected lowside & stop (with luckily no injury & little damage), Sometimes it can happen to the best of us. Keep up good spirits, Hope you continue more plans to ride. Thanks for kind words. Hope to see you riding again soon. Sorry too I did not check here sooner. I never would have guessed.
I have been busy though. Daughter, Leeanne started highschool 8-14. (Yes I pay PTA dues out of my retirement check. ) Grandkids... birthdays. I have been doing a little part time work. Rode to Morganton Hwy 60, North GA, on 8-26 Wife retired 9-1. CurveCowboyReunion, mostly BMWK1200LT, Braselton Ga. 9-8,9. (I rode home& back & skipped luxury accomodations at Chateau Elan.) I organized and participated in a Firefighters Ride to Remember September 11, an escorted ride to central GA. Last weekend I rode to Townsend Tenn.

and attended the XS650 Society rally 8-15,16.
Rally report: I rode up on my 80XS1100SG.

Found BEST ROAD yet, NC Hwy 28 from Franklin north to US19. It is one tight sweeper after another, mile after mile of S curves without straights. I encountered no surprises. Remember no diminishing radius curves, no gravel, smooth pavement, and moderate grades.
Hwy 28 North from 19 to 129 is good too, and has A Beautiful View overlook of Fontana Lake in the Nantahala Forrest. However, it has more straight road, and at least one surprising right hand curve (banked and then 1/2 way through flat), No problem for me this time, but on Saturdays ride, I encountered a too familiar and unfortunate scene there involving a rider from another group. Looked like minor bike damage, but a broken arm for him. I arrived in time for tire kicking session in parking lot of Tally Ho Inn.
Saturday's ride was hwy 321 from Townsend to Foothills Pkwy, (a National park road). to 129 S through deals gap, to Hwy 28 south to Franklin. Had a good burger, fries & soup lunch at mom & pop B&D diner. Here, as planned, group split. At least one sport touring type returned back up hwy 28. (it is THAT good.) Some went to museum. Group leader, Camden, led up 441 through Great Smokey Mtn National park into Gatlinburg and the Roaring Fork scenic Motor Nature trail. This one way narrow, barely one lane, twisting rd, is something else!. Road could be plenty chalenging at slow to moderate speed. Certainly no track day, with a little gravel, no shoulder or lines, some rough pavement, Trees and Boulders at very edge, bridges, streams, waterfalls. It is maybe 7-10 miles, and is well worth doing. Only a few cars and many pull outs to allow passing, which they did
Had great ribs @ Calhouns in Gatlinburg then on to Little river rd in Smokeys hwy 73 to Townsend for more tire Kicking with rest of group.
may be 200 miles, 13 bikes on ride, about 1/2 Yamaha 650. One fouled plug, about 90 seconds to change. One carb loose from boot, about 60 seconds to reattach. All repairs done at regular stops and none in middle of rd. And NO flat tires! I believe the will repeat this next year.
      Get well soon, Bob

        Hi Chevy,

Have you got any more Brag & Drag T- shirts left?

That Wisconsin design is quite rare around here.

        Happy motoring,

          • I'll take another one if you order some. I already tore a hole in my first one.

By the way, I just started walking yesterday (without crutches). Still can't do any lifting, climbing, etc. but I am getting better all the time. And it seems like a long, long time even though the doctor said that I was doing extremely well for having a broken pelvis.
