  • Brag and Drag 2006

well i'll make this the official area to plan discuss submit and other wise talk about the Drag /fun run. So far this is in the VERY early stages (like three days ) of gittin it to happen. Toomorow i will go to the local track and see what needs to be done as far as camping prices and such. I actually have a small conection at the track at the main gate, but that won't help as far as camping and such. i will be posting as info happens. Just wanted to get the thread started. So plz any members wishing to put in there two cents plz do so. The more input the better. i am new to planing and having such an event so if at any time i'm slipping up just smack me back into reality, So post on fellow XSesives and let the good times roll.

i talked to my mom though. She worked there for 8 years. she gave me the names of the conntact people i need to see. I called but just got the recording. Will go out in person this weekend to actually talk to someone in person. Also want people to send some pictures of bike to put on the tee shirts. And Rally name ideas. I was thinking Brag and Drag 2006?

looks like a good place to have the event all we need now is mor einfo and they do allow camping, but the question is do the rent the track out and how much it is or see if we could get them to setup a just motorcycle day on the weekend we want to have the drag and brag and go from there

                    camping

i'm almost thinking camping down the road at an actual camp grounds. Reason being we'll only be draging for a day not the three, some people coming might not be into beating up there bike that bad or just not into drag racing (shame on you.. ) so a camp ground would probly be better. There is a decent place very near the track i freqwent in the summer. They have shower houses, those cute little cabins , tent sites etc. etc. . i believe tent sites are roughly 35 a night with water and electric. Will check later to be sure. the thing about this track well all tracks actually they want money. so to have them close on a weekend or have a special race just for us we would need like a huge amount of people to bring them money...get the picture. So if we camp down the road race one day ride the other we should all get a lil bit of what we all like. But i will still check on camping at the track small possiblity of being cheaper...we'll see. the cost to race is only like 25 dollars for the day. I have to make this thing happen on a weekend when there is no other special events at the track ,,so we can make all the runs we want. i've been there on special events and if you pay for time runs you would be lucky to get one run all day(they give the track time to the guys paying hundreds of dollars to race they're sub 8 sec. cars back to the track and wanting money thing.) But we'll be all good. still have a million thing to think about and do..

yeah that does sound like a better plan with camping at a camping place so if people dont want to go drag racing and just ride and then we all have a place to meet back at, and as far as the track goes as long as we just do it on a test and tune weekend and have alot of bikes there we will get alot of runs in because the track people like the bikes better and they go threw faster then the cars do

Sounds like the weekend planing is a foot. Can't wait for summer now. Geez as if the wait weren't bad enough! $35 a night isn't bad at all. Man I remember when we could camp for just a few bucks. I do like the idea of a single track day. I do need the bike to get back home. I don't remeber, were you thinking in Sept/Oct.. some time? Oh, and does the campgrounds have RV or travel trailer sites.... Pull throughs.
Can somebody tell me what all is needed to use the track. Aside from the bike and a good helmet.

well we havent looked into the camping yet so we dont have the details on it and as far as stuff you need to drag race as far as i know inless your running a really fast time is a good safe bike and a dot helmet, and i think the only thing you need if you are running really fast is a saftey tellar so if you fall off it kills your bike

chevy i will look into camping in the area around the drag strip and see whats all avalible

we need to try to come up with a date so people that want to come can get it planned off from work and stuff like that and i would say some time after labor day but before the middle of october would be about right

and for all the people coming from the south i can start a group out of either middletown ohio or indianapolis indiana

                            dates for brag and drag

hey chavy whats up i was looking at the calander for 2006 and i know you had wanted to have it it late summer early fall and i got some dates to shot at you and see what you think

                            sept 15-16-17
                            sept 22-23-24
                            sept 29-30 oct 1
                            oct 6-7-8
                            oct 13-14-15
                            oct 20-21-22

i havent looked to see if any other rallys are those weekend but those weekends look like good weekend because it wont be to hot to race and ride and it wont be to cold to camp out side

you know the place where you were thinking about camping when i looked camp place up i found like 10 different place and i notice there was it looked liek a state park near the dragstrip

When I last drag raced my bike (mid 80's) at Firebird raceway they required:
                              -helmet
                              -leather gloves
-leather boots that covered the anklebone
                              -leather jacket

With the advance in nylon jackets with the armor, I'd think those would be ok nowadays

Bike-wise they required some parts to be safety-wired:
                              -oil drainplug
                              -oilfilter bolt
                              -brake caliper bolts (I think).

If it's an NHRA sanctioned track then they'd follow NHRA guidelines which should be on-line
