What !!!!!

Hey bug what are you talking about US getting greasy. The PLAN was to watch YOU get greasy! Some of us like to sleep in sometimes anyway. Also it is getting time for the final count of people so that I can get food lined up and get the TEE shirts ordered. So if you are coming let me know. I have 3 coming now Big Mic, Bob Falter, CanatonicBug. The more the merrier.

You see, I'm going with the idea that I am TEACHING YOU how to do this fix, so you can teach others! I'll be sharing the grease with you!

I actually just finished doing the 2nd gear fix on another guy's bike last night, and I was rather proud of myself - I only needed the manual once, to remind me the order of the gears on the shaft when I put it back together. It was a nice refresher, and reminded me of all the tools I'll need. I also used "The Right Stuff" gasket-in-a-can instead of the "Ultra Black" in a tube, and WOW! It's a lot easier! A little more expensive, but definitely worth the extra $4 IMO.

I am thinking about coming down to. Canton on Sat for awhile its only 2hrs away from Clinton Iowa Have to bring my son with or find a sitter wife has to work. I would have to get back in afternoon cause I'm leaving for a week on Sunday have to spend some family time before I go. This will be my first rally been riding since I was 14. Should be fun

Come on down and bring the boy along if you cannot find a sitter. What bike have you got? You need to put that info in your signature so if you have any trouble the guys on here can help you better. Do you want a TEE shirt and if so what size. Price info is back a page or two.

I've had only a few posts here. I'm curious if there are any Xs'rs in my area?
I live in Minneapolis, mn.

I'm trying to get approval to come down to Canton. I'm taking my GF to somewhere in Iowa for a Bridal Shower and am hoping she can just jump off and let me keep rolling South.

Welcome to the party! There has been some talk about having a rallie up your way but that is still in the planning stage. There is a rider from winnona ( hope I Spelled that right) That may be hosting one this fall and I haven't heard if he's coming downto Canton. It will be a great time hope you can make it.

Workshop rally

Tomorrow 4/23/10 is the last day you can get a shirt ordered, if you want one let me know so that I can order them. Also let me know if you are coming so that I can get food lined up. Will post this in member section also.

Hey Tom. Ill take 1 small and 2 xls. If its notr 2 late we will be there sat mporn will need directions when gets closer also do you need cash for shirts ahead of time. Barry

Tom which bike are we doing the fix on, daily rider? Thinking if you can start prep before Friday by removing exhaust and oil pan we would have a jump start on repair to allow more chance for riding Sat afternoon.

Bike repair

I was going to do the repair on a guys bike here in town that has a 79 special that has second gear out, but he has not got in touch with me yet. So if he doesn't contact me we will work on my boys XJ. It has first gear out totally. Also want to do a carb sync on my XJ. Catatonicbug said he could borrow a carb sync tool to use. I have the YICS Elimanator here to install.
That is a good idea to tear it apart Friday night because Bug said he would not be here untill about 9am Sat morn.

If you wanted to start earlier than 9am, just let me know. I can be there whenever you want to start. If 1st gear is totally dead, be aware that a simple grinding of the gears may not be enough to fix it. There may be other damage, where gears need to be replaced. Hopefully not, but I have seen it happen. I've never done the YICS eliminator, so I'll just watch on that one. I will be bringing a set of mercury tubes for syncing. I don't have a colortune, but I just tuned a bike by ear, and I think I did a pretty good job, if you want to do that too.

Just wondering if someone can video tape the 2nd gear fix? I was just in a heated debate with Crazy George ( local salvage yard guy) about how it can be done while in bike. I told him I watched you do it bug in 3-4 hours and back on the road. Than he grabbed a xs11 and kept telling me the only way to do it is to split the cases. I gave up and let him think what he wanted to. BTW he's got 3 xs 11 floating around there all standards 2 78's 1 79 but only have one with title.
