Bike is fixed put 30 miles on tonight running great. I still need an ignition switch so I can have gadge lights and maybe my battery will not over charge. Looking forwards to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

Tenative plan is leave around 8am down 61 to quad cities. You probably come to 61 on 30? I don't know the area well so would be up to you to pick a place. Maybe somewhere around 61 and 80?
Mapquest puts me at Davenport around 1pm allowing for a few stops.
After the long winter I need to get out and ride a bunch to get in shape or I'll be hurtin.

I call to check on the room. She said that I have one reserved so Brent and I are all set. I asked her if it was one of your five and she said no. She said that, when I booked my room, all five of those were full but the motel had another room available so she gave that to me at the $56 rate. Not sure just what is going one?

Meet in Iowa, that’s not fair, all the fun roads are in Wisconsin. Maybe I should meet you in Wenona at 8 am (I could make it if I left Ely at 4:30). Better yet, let’s meet in Victory just south of LaCrosse. I know, you are planning to take 61 out of LaCrosse, but I can pick some good looking routes from Victory to Boscobel where we would finally hit 61 (just before crossing the Wisconsin River). It would be about 50 miles and (I’m guessing) about 150 curves. Boring from there on. It’s a 120 miles of a fairly straight highway 61 and 100 miles of supper slab. Three hours and 20 minutes tops. Then again, we could take highway 20 out of Dubuque, and then there are some interesting roads that run down toward Rock Falls. Rock Falls, what time are you leaving Matt? Some many routes, so little time.

I’ll come up with something but it will all depend on the weather. If it is raining it will be the straightest quickest way. As you know, I have enough trouble with curves when it is dry. Nice weather and who knows. I’ll email you when it gets close enough for the weather man to start guessing at the weather for that period. Hoping for good weather, you might want to look at county road UU, highway 82, highway 27, county road B, highway 131, and county road E, just for something to do.

Steve might be riding down from Cary Il to meet with me. I might have to work part of the day. Will probally be 3 to 4 before I can pull out. I will be taking LONG Boring rt 40 all the way down about hour and half ride.

I'm not locked in to 61. Have considered following the river to prairie du chein and some back roads to Dubuque or crossing into Iowa at Prairie du chien to have a few fun roads but also looking to make some time to quad cities then alternate routes instead of super slab to peoria. But I don't know what's in that area.

Yes weather will be a factor so can wait to see and decide.
I've been on 82,N (oh no) and 131 and GREAT roads on bike OR my MGB. Trouble is....if I got started on those roads I wouldn't get to Peoria till Sunday!!!

I got the Shirts ordered they will be done on may 8th. I will also have awards after the ride. Got some good Ideals.

Arlan I had ordered before I got to read your pm but I think I have you covered! I had to purchase 2 extra shirts to make a dozen. Can not wait to see the shirts finished.

I’m assuming you mean Wednesday, 5/7/08, and take three days to get to Peoria. That sounded great! Where could we go in three days? First thought was around Lake Superior, second thought was back roads in Wisconsin, third thought was back roads in Missouri. I was up to plan G or H when I relaized that I have a two hour commitment (some contract work) that I have to attend in Cedar Rapids at 1:30 pm on Thursday, 5/8/08. However I’m available all of the rest of the time. We could ride all day Wednesday (maybe through northern Wisconsin, find a place to stay for the night (maybe central Wisconsin), make our way to my place by Thursday noon, stay there Thursday night, and come up with an interesting route to Peoria for Friday.

On the other hand, if you mean next Wednesday, I’m available then too. It is nice to be retired.

Unfortunately that life of leisure had not found its way to me YET.
SWMBO and employer still require a pretty full schedule on my plate.
I suspect your plan R, S or T probably involved a trip to Tennessee to meet up with Brent on his way here.
I’ve been addressing some spring maintenance and electrical issues this weekend and a 20 mile test drive this evening in 45 degree 20mph winds with snow flurries proved repairs accomplished but dang it was a COLD ride. Thoughts of “do they make snow tires for XSive riders crossed my mind. Old man winter just won’t let go.

You just keep throwing out those travel plans and I’ll just maintain my sense of humor.

Only a week out!

I need to find out arrival times of everyone! I don't want to be the last one to my own rally. I might have to work friday not sure hopefully not. just keep me posted.

Bob and I are still working out routes to take and waiting for weather forcast which will determine how far from direct route we take.
At this point guess anywhere from 4-7pm????
