Well done, mro! Simpler to build, less material to waste. Gotta love the way this on-line collaboration works. Did you find you needed to put a wrench on the head of the bolt/screw to get the pin to move, or were you able to work it with finger pressure? No sense pursuing a round, knurled head if it's going to need a wrench to get enough driving force.

      How's This?

      The......."ProMoWetSkidGnepig"

      Pro model....made of metal.......$39.99
each made to carb specifications of different bikes

Amature model...$19.99 ....made of stronger type plastic....planned obsolescence (gotta have repeat bussiness)

Was alot of good thinking going on here.

I'd settle for all of us to be muti-thousandaires.

Used 10/32 screw. didn't have one w/hex head so just cut off round head and welded nut there. Stuck it in drill press and turned it on. Used a file to cut down end of screw to fit pin hole. Then heated with torch and stuck it into some motor oil.

Was kind scary how much pressure needed to apply w/wrench, then a little pop and pins came loose.

        sprayed all w/WD40 first too.

"Why my wife stopped washing my boxers..."

"I'd rearrange the name a little. From a marketting perspective, the "Wet Skid" part sounds like a laundry problem.

Excellent work, MRO! Brilliant concept, Ken!
My pivotal contribution was only in stating that it wouldn't work!
How many carbs did you do, MRO? I'm glad to hear that it took a lot of force...that says that the pins were really in there and that the design concept is solid.

            Another problem worked to completion.

Screw needs to be tool steel, although current one seems to be OK. Don't think it would last to long.

                      MRO,

I can't make one myself and I don't mind waiting. It's pretty chilly in my garage anyhow.

My ham-handedness has broken far more float posts than I'd care to admit. One of those might keep me from destroying the set of carbs on my spare bike that I will be taking apart soon.

If you end up with an extra, I'll be more than happy to test it out.

                              Prototype #kt01

Yet another variation on the theme - this one is made from a 1/2" slice off a piece of 2x2 angle iron. Two 3/16" holes elongated to fit over the float posts, one 5/32" hole tapped to M5x0.8mm to fit a M5x16 socket head cap screw. End of screw filed down to just a hair under 2mm diameter.

                                Hi Ken

                                Have you tried it out?
Will allen wrench fit when used on middle carbs?

Good idea using angle iron, could file inner curve of angle iron flat so it would fit snug up to post?
