of course Ill post when I take them off again, it is rideable despite the rich(sooty) #1 and annoying idle but need to ride just a little bit.

No need to take them off the bike. Just a picture from the side with them mounted would be enough. Specifically the tops will identify them. Take a look at this thread. Carb Identifier Guide, take 2 - XS11.club Forums

Hey guys so now I shift over and have to ask, since the plug is wet and sooty how can I tell if it is fuel making it black and sooty OR the awful question is it OIL ?

            1. Run it for a few minutes so it's at normal operating temp. Swap in a new plug, restart and run for 30 seconds. pull the plug and try to smell gas on it.
            2. Repeat above, but wipe plug with clean paper towel and see if an oily residue is part of it.

I know its not the proper thread placement but what kind of MPG are you guys getting. I know I have fuel issues, with that said I seem to be around 22 mpg.....

When everything is dialed in correctly, between 35 and 40MPG.

Got it ! thanks to all it seems to have been a combination of fuel bowl level as well as previous hands touching what they should not touch. Idle is great, fuel mileage doubled.
Lots of help from you fellas

Glad it's running good now, these really are great fast reliable bikes when everything is dialed in. Every different one that I've ridden (20+) over the last 30 years has had her own "personality".
