It should be mentioned that my Standard has been converted to a Special rear wheel to fit a car tire. I had to change the torsion plate and spacer. I was not aware that the grommet was different for a Special but it fit together correctly even though it had a Standard unit on it.

REQUEST: 80G side covers
I've considered getting a 3D scanner in order to replicate various side covers and other cosmetic parts for different makes and models but the same problem comes up, monetizing it. You'd about need to also finish and ship them out in order for that to work which would put the price well over that of used ones.Last edited by LAB3; 08-25-2024, 01:41 PM.1980 XS1100G
I identify as a man but according to the label on a package of Stauffers Baked Lasagne I'm actually a family of four!

Dip stick for a 1982 Yamaha XJ1100 motorcycle for middle and rear units. I believe it fits the XS 1100s too. Based on measurements I found online because I didn't have an original. I don't remember where I looked up the dimensions but it works for me. Use at your own risk.
I posted this on printables too. It is my file.

FYI I haven't forgotten about you guys and the swing arm torsion plate deal. Had a bunch of traveling to do to in Sept/Oct, my wife is nearing her due date (35.5 weeks), and my garage is being expanded to make it easier to work on the bikes. Once things settle out a bit I plan to get back after the XS1100. I've just been riding it as she is for a bit lol.
I also picked up a 3d scanner and plan to scan the side covers for the '79 XS1100 Special. I saw mention of the 80G side covers above, if anyone has any side covers they'd like to ship to me as a template I can ship them back after they're scanned in.Last edited by OldGreyBeast; 11-05-2024, 08:30 AM.

My take on a 3d printed final drive dipstick. Happy to print off a few, especially if someone with an original is willing to compare and make sure my marks are in the right spot!

One thing the parts book does NOT show is the place at the "T" that allows both sides to bend. To check the middle drive, you have to pull the lower air cleaner off if the dipstick will not bend.Ray Matteis
