OO buck is actually .33 inch (8.38mm) and what we need is .125 which is right between #4 and #5 bird shot. The good news is that #4 and #5 both come in steel (clearly better than lead for this application) Buy a box of each and open a shell and give it a whirl. Be sure and let us know how it goes!

"81 Special Choke detent", started by btdtdan.
In addition to my suggestion to use a key chain ball, pggg had this to offer:
"If you want an IMPROVED choke - don't worry about the BB's. Just place a brass(self lubricating) washer on the lever. Gives a fully adjustable choke range - you're not stuck with just two positions."
ok guys
i bought a pkg of 1/8 ball bearings
pkg of 100 smallest i could get for 2.68
I'm set for life now
it was for #4 carb, i lost the ball bearing, i saw it fall
well tonight i assembled my carbs and put them back on the rack
only to find that the only ball bearing that has a detent on the choke rod is on the #1 carb, seems the one on the #4 carb doesn't do anything
at least as far as i can see

I think the ball bearing in #4 helps keep the pressure against the choke rod even across the length of the rod.
So...you're going to be OUR NEW carb ball distributor?!
Shall we put your username in a LINK message as a source?!
