    Big Balls!

    Hey there XSwilly,

Just measured it with my digital caliper, it's 3.15mm or 0.124",
    hope this helps!?

PS, I've gotten my magnetic holder for my new machinists dial indicator 1" range. 001" sensitivity! I've ordered my quick change tool post, so I should be able to actually start practicing some lathing soon!!

I took apart a spare set of carbs i had
they came from a bike that was sitting outside for 5 years
      the motor was siezed.
and up here in maine with the huge difference in temps from summer to winter, sitting outside does alot of harm.
      they were very nasty

at work we just got an ultrasonic cleaner, its a small one about 8 inches x 8 inches, so i took 1 carb off of the rack and brought it in to see how good it would clean it,
all i did was remove the diaphram and the float, and bowl

it did a great job, very clean, the only thing it didn't take off was the oxidation on the outside of the carb
so i'm anxous to try the other 3 carbs
and put them on a bike to try them

        Willy,

I don't know Jack about ultrasonic cleaners so I googled it after reading your post. I have seen these in my dentist's office but didn't know what they were. Some of them use just water inside and some use a solution of some sort. What did you use inside?

            Hey Randy,

            Isn't 1/8" = 0.125".....about what I had said earlier at 0.124"?

I figure he being a machinist knew that!

Be careful with parts and ultrasonic cleaners. If your not and they are in for too long or have weaks spots you can really get some nasty pitting. Machined parts should be okay in it but I wouldn't put anything cast in. If the part is not too intricate brasso and a small piece of a rough cloth (emery etc.) can work charms.

I used two of the little balls from a key chain - they work fine.

Maybe steel buckshot? It would let the carbs know that you mean BUSINESS!
