  • Venturer Rescue

I am just starting on the work to the Venturer I picked up Saturday. I got the bike for 600. The bike was in much better condition than it looked in the pictures. I was told the handlebar was bent so assumed it was dropped.
I was wrong it was about ripped off. But it was done during a shipping and no damage to anything but the bar. The bike has no road rash and is clean.
The chrome and plastics are great faring excellent and the saddle bags not a mark. Even the lock chain is still there. I was hoping to find the tire wire but it was not.
Other than the normal things for a bike sitting since 07 it is in amazing shape and I hope to get it running in a few days. There are a few things I am unfamiliar with and need some help. Not that they are important to get it going but I am curious.

On the lower left side of the fairing looks like there was a switch but it has 2 small wires that look like they are connected to a radio plug?

On the faring it looks like it had lower faring pieces? Are they easy to find? I saw a set on ebay but how do you know if they fit?

The seat has a split is this repairable or is there a good source for a replacement cover?

Seat could be repaired (for how long ?). Unhook it, get up under it with duct tape, pull it together and then use tent sealer to carefully re-attach the seams.

The switch hole you can use for whatever.

The lowers will be a bit harder to find, brand specific but maybe others could be made to fit.
Side note, just picked up a bike with fairing and the lowers came with. The owner mentioned in cold weather the lowers were fine in hot like a furnace directing the engine heat right on the legs.
    Bike sure is purdy !
Just heard today in 81 there was an SH, LH, H, and H Venturer.

    Believe it or ?

      Hi Gordon,
Yes you are missing the fairing lowers. Thes fairing was made by Vetter for Yamaha. i suspect Vetter lowers and Yamaha lowers will both fit.
On mine there is a cigarette style 12V outlet on the left.
You do not need the tire wire as those are Special exhausts and the axel will slip out past them with no trouble. I find it easier to remove the right side bag when changing the wheel but you do not have to.

Well done it looks like a fine example. I can take pictures of my lowers which are off at this time if you need to compare.

        Lowers

        Phil

A picture of the lowers would be great. The ones I saw on ebay were pacifico xs1100? or at least that's what they said I was way off.

          Hi Gordon,
Those are NOT what you need. Not sure what they fit either. I'll try and get some pictures to morrow.

              Hi Gordon,
You are in luck. I had soem pictures already. Note Venturer was marketed as Trans Canada here.

Hope this helps you find the ones that will fit.

I was told the H could be had with or without the Venturer package ?
                Is that true ?

Serial number will tell you what model you have. The lowers on EBay ARE for the '78, EARLY '79 Pacifico fairing. They ONLY fit those rare fairings. I didn't know they were made of gold, though... The Venturer has the 6 gallon tank, and you can tell from the badges and the height of the tank at the filler. The standard is about 1" from the top of the tunnel to the top of the tank, the venturer is about 1 3/4".

No, but some came with the front signal stalks(unless dealer shelved them), and the chrome fork covers that hold headlite are already there folded inward. That way, you could 'strip' it and legally ride it,..... plug'n'play.

                              It's an H

Yes the headlight brackets are folded in

The tank measures 4-1/2" to rim

Big thick plastic pouch with wiring I guess?
