My Battery is toast

What are the considerations for charging? All my chargers are for wet cell batteries. Do AGM's need different chargers?Leave a comment:

That gamble belongs to you my good friend. Myself, I'm not much of a gambler.
That battery is 120 CCA less than the Yuasa for the XS11. Go to the Yuasa site and see if you can get dimensions for this battery. Also, see if you can see what kind of terminals it has as compared to what fits for sure. My battery dimensions below.
Weight: 18
Length: 8.2
Width: 3.6
Height: 6.4Leave a comment:

Theyre used on the ST1100 and ST1300...these are not replacement batteries...I do appreciate your advice Marty but I'm just trying to do it as cheaply as possible...FWIW these batteries in the STs last for many yrs...I know of one owner who said he has had 8 yrs out of it thus far...worth a shot if you ask me...i was asking if anyone thought it would fit into the XS1100...I can always resell it to another ST owner but at that price I think it might be worth the gamble......Ben,
Speaking for myself, I have a Deka AGM battery and I told you where I bought it and what I think of it. I also gave a thumbs up on the retailer. Others did the same. Are you looking for uninformed opinions, or are you hoping somebody on here is using one of these?Leave a comment:

The Everstart battery from Wal-Mart is an ES50N-18LA3. I have one in my bike. Had it in since last year. Left the bike on the other day for a full hour on accident, and bike started right up. Next battery may be something with some more CCA's.Leave a comment:

Get whatcha' pay for in this instance Ben. Dean is correct for their longgivity too. Last Interstate in the Venturer went a bit over eight yrs. and still load tested good at suggested specs. At that point in age, could of 'dropped' a cell at any time. Murphy'sLaw says that would be 200mi. from nowhere
.
Ironicly, the Exide(maint.free) has been in the the ST since I bought the bike some nine yrs. ago. No issues.......yet
. I also don't own, or would own a batt.tender. Wet cell batteries(AGM's are wet cells with glass mat in bottom) like to be used, not charged
. Always figured the Exide's longgivity was due to the ST's built-in digital clock which functions ALL the time
.

For those that want a Walmart battery (Everstart?) I couldn't find xs11 in the reference book, but I believe the Virago battery was the one that I bought and it fit.Leave a comment:

Sort of like ALL batteries that walmart and sams club sells, no matter who the brand on the outside says, is made by Johnson Controls. There really is only a handful or less of companies that make batteries, then they are just rebranded after that.Last edited by natemoen; 11-10-2013, 08:43 AM.Leave a comment:

I think it may be in Pennsylvania, as well as Deka. I don't know what comes from what plant.Last edited by jetmechmarty; 11-10-2013, 08:00 AM.Leave a comment:

Have been told that Yuasa and Interstate come from the same assemby line, with different labeling, from somebody who saw it happenin'.Leave a comment:

You don't get something for nothing. I can tell you that I put Deka AGM batteries in my XS1100 and my XS650 three years ago and they are trouble free. Battery-Web ships immediately, so I am happy, happy. My next battery will come from there. FWIW, the Yuasa is USA made as well, but 300 CCA seems to be plenty.
